The extended-life battery is almost twice as thick as the standard battery. The cover for the thicker battery makes the base of the unit about a half centimeter thicker and the thickness tapers slightly toward the top.

Most users have reported making it through a full two days on a single charge.

Anybody have a US source for the high capacity battery and door?

Felix T Cat 02-10-2006 12:15 AM

I second the US source. I'm pushing the red battery indicator every night around 6pm

Please, if someone knows where to get these in the U.S. please let us know. I find that I cannot go a full day of usage without draining the battery.

I don't think there is a US source at this time. But I have messaged back and forth with markhutchison in Canada a couple of times. He was very helpful; I just haven't taken the plunge yet. Still a little hesitant to use a different colored battery door. It's only available for the Rogers 7130e, which is black. Mark reports users to whom he has shipped the battery and door have said that the color combination doesn't look bad. I'm kinda OCD about things like that, though.

I have no clue what the hold up is on a VZW version of the door.

I sent Mark an email. The only thing I'm worried about is ordering from an individual without any sort of checks/balances in place. Has anyone ordered these batteries from Mark (no offense Mark)?

gdpmumin 05-01-2006 06:56 PM

I would assume he sells them through his business, which is a cell phone store. I don't think he's selling them out of the back of his car. ;-)

We get ours directly from Verizon. Just call your cell phone provider and ask. Mine, by the way, is the same color as the rest of the 7130e and looks very nice.

Huh? Are you serious? Why the heck don't they tell somebody it's available, then? Did you go through a store or what? That's great news!

animlmed 05-01-2006 09:39 PM

You received an extended battery from verizon? When i ask them about the extended battery, they act like I am crazy. They've never heard of such a thing!

animlmed 05-01-2006 09:44 PM

This is the part number listed online for "state agencies": ACC-10561-002

This is what is says: ACC-10561-002 Btry 7130e Battery Extended Lion, 1800 mAh (incl btry door) $44.99

If you look up that part number on google, you will see what I am talking about, but again, verizon says they have no listing of such an item.

Thanks, animlmed! Now that we have a part number, I'm checking with my brother-in-law, who works for Batteries Plus, to see if he can get a hold of it. He has said before he can get OEM batteries for BlackBerries, so we'll see what he comes up with. If you have a Batteries Plus (or some other battery store) somewhere near you, it might be worth a shot.

animlmed 05-01-2006 10:54 PM

Please let me know what you find out. I would me most interested!

kbdrand 05-02-2006 03:01 PM

I called Verizon (611) last night and asked them about that part number. The lady said she couldn't look it up by part number and that she couldn't sell it to me but that she would check the local Verizon stores to see if they had them in stock. One of the stores claimed that they had it in store, but I have not checked yet.

I'm planning on heading out there this evening to see if they do in fact have them.

animlmed 05-02-2006 03:09 PM

It would be great if they did have them in the store. If you could keep us updated, that would be great! Thank you!!
