YouMail question regarding switching phone

I will soon be switching from using a Tour 9630 to a Bold 9650. Keeping the same phone number and carrier (Verizon). What steps--if any--do I need to take to make sure YouMail continues to work. I'm thinking that since it is the same number I don't need to do anything (besides load the YouMail app on to the new phone), but anyone who knows for sure, I'd appreciate some guidance.

Thanks in advance.

I did this exact transition a few weeks back when the 9650 was first released. You are correct -- you shouldn't need to do anything but install the YouMail app on the new device. The settings to forward calls to YouMail are tied to the line, not the phone.

Suggestion: Use the Desktop Manager Switch Device Wizard to transfer data and apps from thew old phone to the new -- it worked like a charm (other than needing new license keys for PIN-based 3rd-party apps, of course).

Wonderful news, and thank you for the reply. Yes, I will certainly be using the Switch Device Wizard, and as soon as I know my device PIN, will get new registration codes for those 3rd party apps that need them. Can't wait!

One more thing... Be sure to install the latest OS release for the 9650 (i.e., OS v5.0.0.732/rel 1242/Platform 4.2.0.334) on your computer prior to using the Device Switch Wizard.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it ships with the OS version you mentioned, just to avoid having to go through the upgrade process.

But, if it doesn't have .732 loaded, if I download before running the Switch Device Wizard, will the new OS be loaded as part the transition process? Avoiding then transfering all of the data, only to be followed by installing the new software and having to go through another backup/reload process?

Or, if it doesn't come with .732, should I just download .732 for the 9650, plug the 9650 into my computer, and run the app loader to get the new OS on the device, and then once that is done proceed with the Switch Device Wizard?

Thanks.

It should ship with .732 (released on 11 June), but, if not, either method should work to update it.

That's what I'm hoping! Thanks for the help.
