8700 Sync with Office Outlook 2007
 

I've been succesfully synchronising my 8700g with an old version of Microsoft Outlook (2000) for ages, but having now upgraded to Office Outlook 2007, the sync doesn't work - either way. It doesn't register any errors while synchronising and even offers me the option to accept or delete calender and address book entries during the sync process (as usual), but the calender (and I think it's only the calender) entries won't move across from the BB to the software - or vice versa.

I occasionally used to have to plug the BB in again to get the sync to work, but it used to be pretty reliable. Not now! Any thoughts, please?

What version of Desktop Manager are you running?

I'm running version 3.6.3.11, which is the newest version of 3.6 that I could find. I tried loading newer versions (eg: 4.1.0.11), but it indicated it wasn't appropriate for my BB.

You are running Desktop Manager 3.6? That is a VERY old version and will not sync with Office 2007.

Download v4.7 or v5.0 and install them.

Agree with NJ. Use DM 4.7 or 5.0.

Sync problem solved - now upgrade wobbly!
 

Thank you, NJBlackberry and Dubdub. Yes, vs 5.0 downloaded and (mainly) works a treat - and what a different beast it is from the old vs 3.6 that I was using!

I never considered upgrading as I had failed to install vs 4.1, so thought my BB 8700g could only work with olders OSs.

Sync with Outlook 2007 now works fine. The only probem I've since had is in trying to upgrade the BB's s/ware through the Application Loader. It suggested and found vs 4.5 (I think), but crashed at stage 4 of 11 of the upgrade. Thought I'd lost everything, but BB re-booted eventually and luckily it hadn't lost its data. Might not try that again in a hurry - or does that just happen sometimes?
