Public Beta open for SMS Viewer

1 Attachment(s)
Dear All,
We've been working on a cool new app for SMS! (see the attached image for illustration) Following the private beta we had on the forums, the app is now open for Public Beta.

In case you are interested in trying out a pre-release app then please proceed to www.getempower.com to install the product. Installing from the web will also ensure that I can notify you when the app goes live.

In case you want no notification, just point your BlackBerry Browser to www.getempower.com/beta/sms/ to install the app directly.

Looking forward to your feedback, comments, suggestion etc..

Pvt Beta users can install this version (v0.98) over their existing version.

Best!
Ani

I tried it and did not like it.....

Just my opinion. Ran very, very slow on my curve.

I need to give it time. I like how it shows emoticons and I like how it is pretty customizable. I wish you could change the background image.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8900)

I like this too. I was able to customize it and remove the background, and just have black text on a white background. One thing I do wish is that you could mark whether a text was incoming or outgoing.

Yeah, I messed around with that too, changing from Pattern to Color. But I wish there were more images to choose from when selecting Pattern. I agree with the incoming/outgoing messages too.

Could you add a configuration option for the header text? The text is too large, and the phone type [(Mobile)] and the phone number [+1 (623) 51x-xxxx] are overlaid...

How much will this app cost when it is released? Hopefully free haha.

Does this work on a 8800 with the latest OS? I have a 8800 and I installed it, it shows up on my "desktop" but whenever I click on it, nothing happens.

True, we have two options for background.
Pattern - in here you can select images for the background.
Color - in here you can set your background to some color.

Also, the incoming / outgoing sms identification is already there, it will work for all ur smses send/received after the app has been installed. For sms sent/received before the app was there, it has no way to tell. Try sending/receiving a few sms and you will see different markers on them.

Best,
Ani.

Will fix this.

This app doesn't work with any of the phone numbers I have in my address book, any others will show with the viewer but nothing that's in my book as a name...anyone else getting this?

BCollins521 05-09-2009 10:01 PM

I take that back...it seems to be the myFavs that causing it not to work with my one contact

Hgaara 05-10-2009 01:29 AM

Soooo does this work with a 8800?

Thanks, I gave it a try. I found a long delay between the time I pressed the Menu button and the time the menu actually appeared. I didn't time it, but anything less than instant seems slow since most menus pop up instantly. I would guess it took nearly two seconds for the menu to appear on my 8130 (4.5.0.138).

trevo112 05-10-2009 06:05 PM

downloaded directly to my storm. didnt show up. should i battery pull for it to show up or what.

Try a battery pull, then look in your download folder.

You really won't see an app per se, just open an SMS message.

I am running the same OS on an 8330 and there does seem to be a delay. On the QWERTY keypad I can just press R to reply and F to forward. I don't need to use the menu key really. I don't know if this will work with the SureType devices.

I was wondering about this earlier because I also thought I had to open some kind of application for this to work. But yes, it shows up on the Storm as soon as you open a SMS.

trevo112 05-10-2009 06:13 PM

thats what i meant in the download folder. wasnt there. let ya know if it comes after the reset.

trevo112 05-10-2009 06:23 PM

so its there when you open the sms. but you say you can change the background from the smiley face blue one to a pattern or colors? where is the option to do that. if its not a selectable application how do you modify it?
