Javaelin Reception/Radio

I have found that the 8800 gets better reception than the 8320. More bars in weak signal areas, getting a signal where the 8320 can't, that sort of thing. Does anyone know about the radio in the Javelin? Same as the 8320? Better (hope hope)? Hard data? Anecdotal? Can you tell somehow just from the specs?

Thanks

Now that they are out in the wild, any impressions? Side by side tests?

From what I have read, the Jav's reception has been improved.

Mine is very slightly (2-3dBm) worse then my Bold. It is very similar to my girlfriends 8310.

At least it is way better than on my BlackBerry Storm :-D Way better even.

Had the 8900 for a few days and have been seeing alot of the "SOS" icon you get when it drops the signal. I mostly keep it in my pocket but it also showed SOS on the 1st floor of a parking garage at the local mall and at the gym, places where my 8700 always had reception. I'm very concerned now.

A week ago I was carrying 2 phones for a while: an 8700 that ALWAYS had GREAT reception and a Pearl 8120 that would show SOS alot. The 8700 was carried in a hip holster while the 8120 was in my pocket though.

I'm having the same signal trouble with my new 8900. Tried new SIM with no change, might have to exchange.

what OS are you on? I heard some OS had bad radio reception..
Also, do a battery pull and see if things help.

I have my 8900 and did a side by side with my Mom's 8800 at her apartment, where reception is BAD. The readings were identical. Both are usesable, but a few dropped calls. I am running .174 now. My 8320 (now my wife's) was not as good (generally have to go out on the balcony to use). Same her old (now retired) 8100.

new to BlackBerry

I recent upgraded to the 8900 from the Tmo Dash. I've had trouble with reception. I live in the city in an area where I always had great reception with my Dash. But I rarely get more than 3 bars with the 8900. I took my first one back and they gave me another but it has the same problems. I can sit in a chair and not move and watch it go from 1 bar to 3 then back to 1 in less than a minute.
I really love the new 8900 but I'm not pleased with my experience so far. Going back tomorrow for phone #3 maybe it will be better.
