Tmobile has 3g now, where's my blackberry?

Tmobile finally has 3g in Orlando. I live in Orlando. Where is my 3g blackberry? Does anyone know of even a rumor of one? Bold = ATT, Storm = Verizon, XXX = Tmobile?

If it's a touch screen I'm going to be very upset as well.

I used search and found no really recent topics so I figured I'd make one.

Wirelessly posted

For now, there is no future for t-mobile, I'm sure they will press the Bold in mid 2009

Re: Tmobile has 3g now, where's my blackberry?

AT&T uses a different frequency band for 3g (1900 MHZ), T-Mobile uses the 1700 MHZ band for their 3G. Thus, there is no Blackberry for T-Mobile upcoming unless there is a variant in the works for the separate band of 3G for the Bold, or if AT&T gives up on the Javelin and passes the blackberry torch to T-Mobile. I hear that the latter is probable due to the refusal by AT&T to release any new 2G devices that use data.

The javelin will be out for both ATT and T-Mo, but is not a 3G device (so it doesn't really apply here).

ezrunner 11-11-2008 09:03 AM

the Javelin for ATT is being developed with 3G according to the rumors

bakerfall 11-11-2008 10:40 AM

The rumors are that the 2nd gen javelin might have 3G, but the 8900 has constructed does not (as evidenced by the ATT units that have been reviewed).

I get the feeling that Tmob is smarter than ATT with the 3g hype. They may "have it" in places and show it on the cute little coverage maps but "having it" and really being able to use it all over are 2 different things. Once they get their 3g system truly developed they'll follow with the BB phones. Don't forget how many of the BB users are corporate. they don't really have to have 3g, so until 3g is universal it's OK to wait.

So you're saying T-MO is smart for having limited coverage and limited devices?

I have 3G everywhere I use it (haven't travelled with the Bold yet) and it's a major improvement.

No, he's simply saying that reliable 2G coverage is more important than spotty 3G coverage. You may have excellent 3G coverage, but a majority of us do not. After seeing what 3G coverage is like here in the states compared to Europe, I will stick with good 'ol reliable EDGE any day.

rambo47 11-12-2008 07:35 AM

Bwahahahahaha! The Javelin is to get 3G, but once again T-Mo gets shut out. Nobody is paying any attention to AWS because T-Mobile has been basically mute on their plans, done little or no advertising, and rolled it out so slowly. I can't tell you how glad I am that I bailed on TMo and went to AT&T!

Maybe TMO should worry about their coverage in general and not so much 3G. Here is the map of NJ coverage of both carriers. Who would you go with?

bakerfall 11-12-2008 09:14 AM

Agreed. There is no way you can look at the US as a whole, or most major markets in general, and you could say T-Mo has better 2G, let alone, 3G coverage.

That's just wrong. Plus, if I don't have 3G coverage I still have ATT's EDGE network, which has better coverage than T-Mo's EDGE network.

Looks like this topic has changed to "Who has better service T-MO or AT&T"

Which will bring tons of different opinions. In some places AT&T has better coverage and in some places T-MO has better coverage.

To each his own.

I'm not saying either one is better. Its where you use the phone that counts. I'm only saying maybe TMO should shore up its basic coverage before making the jump to 3G. Without doing that, they will never be anything bigger then the #4 carrier.

Well, I wasn't specifically speaking to you. But since you replied.

You stated that you are not saying either one is better; then you go on to say TMO is currently the #4 carrier. So, where does AT&T fit in there? Sounds like a comparison to me and sounds as if you are saying AT&T is better.

Nothing wrong with that. In your area, AT&T may have better coverage. But, where I live, work and play T-MO has better coverage.

I'm simply saying you will get tons of different opinions based on the geographic location of the individual.

So, again, To each his own. (y)

blah blah blah,Sounds like another tmo bashing party to me, I have both tmo and att, and IMO my tmo coverage is better in some places and vise versa, I travel through PA, NJ, NYC. tmo is best in NYC and att in NJ and there the same in PA spotty at best.
I prefer tmo due to my employee pricing package, 10.00 a month for everything, verses my att plan. TMO will drop the 8900 in this quarter. the 8900 is being shown w an att sim card installed hence the logo, this is not att branded by any means.

Would Tmobile not having 3g / 3g blackberry be a reason to break the contract and not pay the fees?
