How do you hold your BB In Car?

I am just wondering how you guys have your BB held up in the car. I want to use the GPS on it, but I don't know where to put it where it wont fall over or a spot where I can see it really good.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I have a window mount to hold my Pearl, and my GPS receiver is on my keychain. Works just fine.

I have 2 hands for my BB and 1 knee for my steering wheel

Zzeuss 02-21-2008 02:24 PM

Yea, but if you want to use the GPS you cant have your hand up near the windshield and drive at the same time, your arm will get tired.

I went to Target and bought a generic cell phone holder than attaches to the slats on a vent. Works just fine although it works it way out of the vent over time.

Proclip

There are other mounts out there that are cheaper but I have been very happy with Proclip.

Forget the steering wheel, focus on the BB

Forget the steering wheel, heck you can't send/receive messages or access the Internet with the steering wheel, something you can easily do with the BB. You know, come to think about it I don't even have a steering wheel, i take the metro to work hahahahah

I have an Arkon Vent Mount which came free with my BT GPS puck purchase from buygpsnow.com. You can buy one of these mounts for about $10 and it'll snap right into the heater vent on your car. I would never have purchased it on my own, so I'm glad it came free because I have come to love it! I also recommend the vendor (buygpsnow.com)

Link: Arkon Vent Mount USD$8.95

I don't hold it up by the windshield, you don't need to.

Mine either sits in a cup holder, or rests on the dashboard on one of those small non-slip mats. I like the vent holders, I need to get me one of those.

Wish I had three hands; I just use a generic mobile phone cup

edit: please don't let that wish come true!

walmart windshield mount works great.

koleary19067 02-21-2008 07:14 PM

One of those rubber mats that dont slip, works great

I bought a sticky car holder (I guess windshield) off ebay and the curve is a tight fit and works its way out so I usually hold it in one hand and drive with the other.

I purchased a generic holster from The Source and modified the "arms" to a snug fit; they were way to tight out of the box and pressed on the side buttons. I also glued a magnet on the inside so it will act like a BB holster. When I need to navigate with GPS, I just stick something under it to hold it up away from the magnet. I since had to modify the vent clip too; the original was quite cheap and broke. Works like a charm and never moves.

Do you keep the vent open or closed when using this type of vent holster?

I keep mine closed for fear of moisture and/or excessive heat causing damage.

TroyDBrown 02-21-2008 11:04 PM

Mine lives in the cup holder when not in my hand.

Tangocore 02-22-2008 12:21 AM

cup holder, perfect fit!

Dinan3 02-22-2008 04:38 AM

steering wheel w/ velcro. velcro is attached to the rubber skin, which i only use my truck. ha. for GPS purposes.

I also recommend ProClip. Their mounts are a bit more expensive than others, but their mounts are custom made for the vehicle and device. Well worth the extra cost!
