OS Upgrade , stops at second last step "wait for device initialization"

If you experience this problem, don't throw your BB out the window..

I've had two OS upgrades now, and both stops at this point.

Simply, wait 20min for it to try make contact, if PC says: connecting to phone, and phone says: connecting to desktop take out the USB cable from the phone. Pull out the battery (don't turn the unit off by holding disconnect button). Place the battery back inn.

Power up the unit, when at the menu screen you can use your phone with factory settings.

To continue the process, connect the USB cabel and the apploader will finish the job and place the restore file on the phone..

This helped me, please don't take this for granted it will help you, if any problems arise I take no responsibility for that. Do this at your own risk. Consult a BB technican if you are unsure.

Not sure I know what you are saying here. However, the OS upgrade can take a while, and there is that step that seems to take forever. Just wait it out and all will be well. Don't disconnect, don't pull battery, just wait.

i agree. the more you mess with it, the more likely it is that you will break something. ive seen OS upgrades take 2 hours total, it really depends on alot of things.

Do not do ANYTHING while it is waiting to reconnect. It can take 20+ minutes to initialize.

second last step, its restores from backup to the phone. I recall I had it at that screen for two hours.. :)

All flashing is completed by this step.. yet like I said, this is just a workarround.. it might come later if you wait. But honestly I didn't have time for it.

Note: This workarround do NOT work for the first "wait for device initialization" in the reflashing progress... :)

OS upgrading is well documented here. The device can take 20+ minutes to boot during the upgrade as mentioned above. This is all normal. Your backup can take a short time or a long time depending on how much data you have to restore.

I agree. Usually it takes 30 min to finish it to the end...:?

I woudn't have posted this if I didn't wait. I believe I waited for up to an hour for this. It failed. Since its the restore part of the upgrade its not vital. If it should fail completley at this step you can do a manual restore of the automated created backup.

I wait and this is the message I get "unable to complete the loading operation. Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation."

Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: I had a bad battery

Same thing happenning and I am sitting here for two days and spining around two error messages 507 and 543.
507 happening when Battery is out and is at the stage of Initializing device.
It never continues and says Fatal error 0x000005 or something like that and than I am out, unless I put back battery than it finishes normaly and says system is updated successfully.
After that BB is booting for around 10 minutes and comes back with error 543 AGAIN.

Really have to have patience for this...

Unable to complete the loading operation indicates that the BlackBerry is not getting enough electrical current through the USB connection.

Try a different USB port and do not ever use a USB hub.

Also unplug other devices that are using USB ports.

Mine is taking over 4 hours and counting. How long is too long. Should I continue to wait this out or kill it and retry?
