Blackberry Disapointment

Well, what can I say. I HATE blackberry.

I've been using one now for a long time so you can imagine just how upset I am with the 10 attempts to unlock my phone before it wipes all my data crap. Even though it is showing on the screen that I am in fact typing in the correct password. I even tried the text equivalent but NO JOY. Now all my data is gone and I get the white screen of eternal doom.

So thank you Blackberry. Thank you for building crappy software that crashes, forgets your password and tells me I'm entering the wrong password when it is showing me I'm not.

Stop trying to play with the BIG BOYS of the mobile industry and sell your system to people who know what they are doing. There's a guy in my street who has a really big garden shed who we call Mobile Dave. Give him a shout. He'll buy it for the right price and do a better job!

So here's a big

Nice first post and welcome to the forums.

As many years I have been working with and supporting BlackBerry devices, I have never seen what you are describing happen. The BB will NOT forget the password. Also, you get prompted that the phone will wipe after 10 attempts.

I don't know what happened in your case. If the characters were showing correct, it should have unlocked given you were entering the correct password.

And I hope you know that we are in no way affiliated with Blackberry or RIM or whomever they call themselves today. This is an all volunteer site trying to help users with problems.

You hate BlackBerry but have been a user for a long time? Sounds like you have daddy issues. Good luck with your Android.

Even dummys do a backup. Anyone "using Blackberrys for a long time" or any smart phone knows that.

It is a common practice to blame THE device (computer, smartphone, etc) instead of THE operator when something doesn't go as needed.....

Just bought Z30, trying to migrate from my 9850. What a disaster. Group texting, gone; categorizing contacts gone; categorizing tasks gone; want to use voice to text, well open up your kimono and forget privacy because you have signed over all your rights to BB. In short an utterly frustrating experience

Research will always be your first line of defense when buying something new (to you) and expensive.

Not sure about the Kimono reference, but everything else is known.

Well the only reason I have stuck with BlackBerry because for me a PDA is a business tool without the features listed in my previous post it is quite useless. Have found some 3rd party software that fill up some of the gaps but still a long way to go before a have the same functionality OS7. The kimono refers

To the Voice Control user agreement. The way I understand that agreement is that you give BlackBerry the right to retrieve whatever information they need from your device and use it for whatever purpose they see fit. Never had to agree to anything closely like that for any of my previous Bbs. As to the research yes if I had switch to toy devices like Apple or Androids or Windows I know spend a lot of time to compile a useful tool. It looks like with OS10 BlackBerry went the way of its competitors instead of having one integrated system one now has to rely on 3rd party software to get the required features. That begs the question why stay with BlackBerry with its much smaller group of developers and user groups. I have been a BlackBerry fan right from the beginning, but this is very disappointing.

Group texting is available on 10.2.1. Contact groups are in 10.2.1 as well, but it's a little different than categories. I categorize all my tasks using Remember.

Hope that helps.

Re: Blackberry Disapointment

Fourrstringfuror, thanks for your input. Instead of group texting should have metioned pre-defined groups in the contact manager. In OS7 I was able to enter the name of group in the address field and the text message was send to all the persons in the group. Found a program named SMSbyNow from an organization by the name Manysmallapps works like a charm. Found another program called DocuShortcut enabling me to put shortcuts on the home screen that are linked to files and folders. Making progress though. Manysmallapps has another cute program called shortcuts. Allows one to use the search box to execute an action and pass on parameters, vaguely remember doing something like that in DOS as well ;-)
