Notifications No Longer Working

I hope someone in this forum can help - I had Notifications (sounds, ringtones & music) set for some of my Contacts, Mailboxes and Reminders and they were all working fine until last week. I have not downloaded any updates or applications. I even removed and reset all of my Notifications. Then tried the "remove the battery" thing in hopes that would reset the Z10 back to the state when all the Notifications worked, unfortunately that didn't work either.

Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone know of a fix or another "trick" to try?

Signed - Lost without my Notifications.

Check the quick settings and make sure notifications are not muted. If not.....

Let's step through it. And we'll deal with contact-specific ringtones separate from universal.

Pick an email account. Are you using a stock ringtone or a file you placed on the device. If the later, navigate to the file and make sure it will play. I'm assuming that either way there is no problem with the file. But if the file is corrupt and can't be played, that is a problem.

Go into settings to notifications. Set the notifications volume to high. Now go the screen to customize alerts for the selected email account. For now, set vibrate to on. Next, tap the tone field to drop down the selections and select one of the stock tones, and then select the previously selected ringtone. Each time you select a different tone the device should play it. Does that happen?

Now select the ringtone you want to use. Again, the tone should play. Tap the play icon at the bottom of the screen. Also, leave vibration enabled for now. Back your way out. Confirm save changes if prompted.

Now send yourself an email to that email address. You should, of course, hear the notification and the Z10 should vibrate. If not, what exactly happens?

Hi Ira

Thanks for the "to try & verify list of things".
It appears that turning on Vibrate makes the sounds work, so I'm back in business and all better now.

Thanks

Glad the device is doing what you want. The mystery deepens for me. If simply turning vibration on and off turns the audible alerts on and off, then something weird is going on. Still, if you are happy, go with it.

Post an update if you discover something new. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

if you have check everything and it's ok, means this is bad, backup all your data and do do factory reset..

do you really need to answer all old threads that are over a month old?

mine did the same thing. the notifications were intermittent, if they worked at all, I turned the vibrate on it all works fine. I went to the at&t tech store and the morron security wiped my phone trying to fix it and I ended up having to re-install the new os. don't know how I like this os yet. but so far its good
