TrackIt TimeZone world clock and network time sync
TrackIt TimeZone Edition looks like a great world clock, but I'm wondering how it works when you travel to a different time zone. TrackIt TZE seems to sync directly to mobile carrier's network and not to Time Zone setting (which we are supposed to change manually after arriving in a new time zone). Another world clock that I tried before was syncing to the Time Zone setting.
In my test, without actually going anywhere, I changed Time Zone setting from US Eastern Time (my Network time) to Hawaii Time, then to GMT, and during all this experiments TrackIt TZE didn't react, all its clocks were showing their respective time like nothing has ever been modified. http:**//**img9.imageshack.us/img9/2971/09162009101936.png http:**//**img3.imageshack.us/img3/5608/09162009102008.png (remove the four stars from URLs, there is no "www") So it looks like TrackIt gets its "base time" from the mobile network (or BlackBerry Infrastructure time, if so set) and not the Time Zone setting. However, in this case, if you travel to another time zone all its clocks would be off, unless information about the time zone was transmitted by the cellular tower, which as far as I know, is not the case. I'm wondering what I'm missing here. TrackIt TimeZone Edition website: http:**//**.javatekmedia.com/trackit-timezone/product.jsp (remove the four stars from URL and add www) |
Just for the record, this issue is explained in post #2 here:
