Problems upgrading from 8310 to 8900

My 8310 battery is dead and the phone won't take a charge. I upgraded to a 8900. I need to get my back up off my laptop transferred from the 8310 to the 8900, but I don't have a way to get the 8310 charged up so that I can sync it. How can I get the back up files off the laptop and on to my 8900?

Is there a backup from your 8310 on your laptop currently, or do you still need to back it up to your laptop?

Does your 8310 fire up when plugged into an AC charger?
