Curve Randomly resets

I am at my sits end here. I got this replacement curve a couple weeks ago and it randomly resets on me. It has done it on calls making calls watching a video surfing the internet. Name it it has reset during it. I am running .184 but I was on .180 and it was doing the same thing. I was hoping the new os would stop it from happening. Needless to say it hasn't. I have done a clean install and tried everything I can think of. I don't know what else to do. I try and look at the event log at the reset time but its all gibberish to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After the clean install, did you reload a backup?

jeremyckitching 12-25-2007 02:23 PM

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I had this issue sometimes with my Curve when I had it. But it didn't really happen that often. I probably had 4 reboots on it and each time it was when I was using the UMA calling.

jedi31780 12-25-2007 02:32 PM

Yeah i don't use the uma even though it is a good feature. Yeah I did an advanced restore. I only restored the info such as address book and personal stuff.

From the post over on this forums, this is the summary I get for randomly reboot.

Bad battery
Bad battery contact
Bad sim card
MicroSD card install
Software problem
And this is the problem I have on my 8800, see link

That is a very good post. I have contacted T-Mobile and they want me to try a new battery but this is the original battery from my first curve. That curve did not have this problem. I did a selective backup of only the information I needed. I'm thinking it might be one of the google apps I have on here but I'm not sure and I don't really know what to look for in the event log. Nothing seems to stand out.

You can try just to reload the OS and start from there.

BTW how old is you backup file.

Reload the OS and don't install any third party apps. If this doesn't work, have them replace it. I had the very same issue with a Curve. Ending up replacing it. The replacement unit works fine.

Yeah I figured it was something I have installed or the phone has a hardware bug. T-Mobile isn't replaceing it till I try another battery and also call their technical support.

jedi31780 12-25-2007 03:51 PM

I've contacted them 4 times already through their web chat thing and each time it is something new. I really don't have much faith in their technical support stuff.

If you purchased it at a store, try taking it back to them. Sometimes standing there in person works better than being on the phone.

jedi31780 12-25-2007 08:53 PM

Yeah it was actually an upgrade I ordered from the official website. The first curve I got the letter "v" was not working properly and this is the first replacement I've gotten. I just can't seem to figure it out. Its completely random when it does it.

NCBuckeye 12-25-2007 09:15 PM

I had a problem with my 8800 and I returned it. It was a loose battery connection.

jedi31780 12-26-2007 01:22 AM

Im debating if I should try another battery like tmobile wants me to. I just feel its software since it only resets about once or twice a day and sometimes it did 3 in a couple of hours. Love the device and I dont wanna get rid of it.

gteague 12-26-2007 01:29 AM

i had to have an 8700g replaced twice for random rebooting. never did find out the problem with those.

i'd remove any apps and files (especially music and ringtone) you have added and watch it for a few days. until i pruned my ringtone list i was guaranteed to get a reboot from my 8320 every time i scrolled either up or down in the ringtone list while setting up a profile. very frustrating.

Yeah I'm running minimal apps. So far I have been good today. I just never know when its gonna occur.

Had the same rebooting issues with my TMO Curve. They sent me a replacement unit and it rebooted just like my original so I was not pleased.

They then sent me a new battery and voila! No problems since!!!

Hope the new battery helps you as well. The Curve is sooo nice when it's stable!

Yeah the guy told me I can go to the store and pick one up but from what I always understood was that the stores don't do that kind of thing but I would like to get this resolved.
