Replace Splash screen?

I've read a number of posts saying you cannot remove the boot/splash screen, but i wonder if has changed at all this pas few years.

My issue is that my device has been purchased from a different carrier than th one it's using now.

Imagine having an At&T logo while on Sprint or Verizon operator. Just dropped some random names, not meant to advertise. These brands arent even available on my country.

Just wanted to state my case. I dont even have a problem with the way the logo displays.

It's just ironic to boot with a logo of a different carrier, is all! 8-)

Nope it hasnt changed.

And you picked the wrong names, AT&T devices cannot even work on Sprint or Verizon!

I found some links claiming it can be done

From a brief look it seems it requires flashing i think. I've had some experience on the past flashing dct-3 nokias, but i dont know if it will be that easy with BB Devices.

You do not wanna bring up this subject on these forums. Trust me...

Well, it IS a good way to get a time out from here. Perhaps therock0003 isn't aware that using software illegally obtained from RIM is not discussed here. Now he knows.

I didnt know that flashing is illegal. I was just looking for a method and these were the first 2 results i found saying that it can be done.

If this is in any way illegal i didnt know and i apologise for that.

flashing / debranding (not the same) is not illegal. It's the software used to "debrand" which is stolen and illegal.

therock003 05-15-2010 11:52 AM

Ok i didnt know that. As mentioned it was just one of the first results that came up. Sorry if i did anything wrong :(

Not much I can add that hasn't already been said, but really -- you only see the carrier splash screen when you boot up (or power off, but most of us do not power off except perhaps on airplanes).

TBH, I find it rather cool to have a phone with another carrier's splash screen on it (e.g. I had a Cingular BB while on Rogers).
