push application to the Blackberry

Hi

How to push application that was created on the Visual Studio Plugin for Blackberry to real device ?

thanks

brcewane 10-15-2007 09:23 AM

You will have to publish the application from the tool to your production MDS Services server installed with your BES.

Then make sure the device you want to run it on has the MDS Runtime application. This can be installed via desktop manager.

When your environment is setup you can then either push the application to the device or search for the application via the device and install it.

hi

I have the folder with my files :*.mds,*.mdsproj.
I wrote an application on separate computer from network,on visual studio plug-in.
I have the separate MDS server.

My question is : how to deploy the application to the blackberry.
what tool i need in MDS in order to install the application ?
I have the MDS RUNTIME APPLICATION on the Blackberry.

thanks for your help.

On your corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server, you must have the MDS Services option installed. It requires 4.1.x or higher. There is a known issue with 4.1.2 so you won't want that one. When configuring your MDS Services during the install you are able to supply a publisher username and password.

When your admin sets up the MDS Services you will want to make sure that they allow unsigned MDS Runtime applications.

Once MDS Services is installed on your Enterprise Server you will be able to go to your Tools -> Options -> Blackberry in Visual Studio. You will see here that there are Application Registries and Application Repositories. You will want to make entries for your MDS Services on your Enterprise server. You will want to supply the username and password here for publishing.

Once you have this setup, you can click on the publish button on your BlackBerry toolbar in Visual Studio and it will step you through the process of uploading the application to the server.

When it has been uploaded to the server, you can take your device and go to the MDS control center and search for the applications.. your app should be there and you can download it.

There is also a section in the BlackBerry help in the Visual Studio help tool on this topic.

It is not possible, the only way to get it installed on the device is via the BlackBerry Enterprise server. You can't install it any other way.

programmer wrote a software and wants to send her to the real device,
for this needs to pay 3000$ in order to establish a server and to install her ?

brcewane 11-06-2007 11:12 AM

There is a free 5 user BES available as well as an application BES that doesn't require any email.

From what I am told, it was designed with the usage of a Corporate BES and LAN scenario and not the consumer space.

cyberfire 11-06-2007 03:53 PM

Ok.
I have my first app, but now need to install it on a few BB.
Is there a step by step guid?
When adding the IP for the BES server in VS I get an error that it cant find the URL.
Not sure what is worng on the BES side.

Regards.

How to publish my Blackberry Application ?

Hi (i am a newbie)

I have create a BB application using the Visual Studio Plugin.
I have a VB.NET back end app and a MDS application designed to be downloaded onto the BB device.

I have a test MDS service running on my local machine and can publish it to the simulator without any problem.

I now want to publish it to our BES server but cannot figure out how.

To be honest i don't know if the BES server is using MDS services so this might be the problem (i cannot see it installed anywhere on the server).

The BES is using IBM for lotus notes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks
Barney

The 10 steps above your post should step you through everything you need to know/do and includes references to guides for more information.

Barney_1972 02-25-2008 01:13 PM

I can see the 10 steps but the links just take me to the BB site.

Can some one provide information on how i can publish my app.?

I do not know how to find the correct repository information needed.

brcewane 02-26-2008 10:00 AM

The links take you to the server docs area for BES. Each step tells you where you can get the information you need i.e. "BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1.4 Administration Guide".. Chapter 7 "Sending BlackBerry MDS Studio Applications to BlackBerry devices"
