whats the diff between 8300 / 8310?

was looking to buy a cheap used curve and found a 8300, whats the diff between the 8310? thanx.

The 8310 has GPS... very easy to determine if the dang search button were working. ;-)

And, the color of the device... 8310 comes in titanium and CRIMSON TIDE red.

Make sure you read the FAQ on buying a used BB on eBay before you make the purchase. Good info there, even if you aren't buying on eBay.

All of the above are correct except teh 8310 comes in titanium and Georgia Bulldog RED and Black.

Bulldogs RULE!

fr0zen 02-03-2008 04:30 PM

lol bulldog red, hahaha

i personally still love the titanium :)

Tangocore 02-03-2008 04:50 PM

dont forget about thoses color answers only applied to the att 8310.

JSanders 02-03-2008 05:38 PM

Bulldogs are red, the 8310 is CRIMSON, and even AT&T will tell you that. Crimson Red. Georgy Bulldawgs ain't no crimson red.

There is a difference, and a REAL bulldawg fan would have noticed!

is the gps standard or you have to pay extra? or is it part of the data plan?

greggebhardt 02-03-2008 06:13 PM

OK OK, I am having to make do as they do not have a DAWG red phone!

Right on My Brother! Alabama fans are just upset that they spent all their money on the new coach instead of recruits like in the past!

DAWGS will rule for years to come!

Also, the headset speaker volume increase & noise canceling in noisy environments is on the 8310, don't think it's on the 8300.

I agree. Just because he is a disgruntled Alabama fan AND the Moderator, that does not mean I got to be scared.

There is no doubt the 8310 is BULL DAWG RED and Black NOT Crimson!

Sorry, I do not know what came over me!

BULL DAWGS RULE and they will for EVER! <tongue out!>

If you are looking at the 8310 then, yes, GPS is standard. You will need a maps app, obviously to use the GPS. Google maps and blackberry maps works well with the GPS (google is better, IMO). There are also other apps that you can download that you pay for that work really well. Im using the 30 day trial right now for telenav ($10/mo otherwise) and its awesome. It gives you turn by turn and voice commands through the speaker. Though as I said, google maps and bb maps work well, too.

zabone 02-04-2008 07:50 PM

gps. that 8320's wifi is lookin pretty good ;)

thephatman 02-04-2008 10:50 PM

I have what I was told is an 8300, and on the phone itself it has 8300, but it also came with an icon for the Telenav GPS maps. That's got me confused. I thought the 8300 DID NOT come with GPS capability, but mine seems to. Am I missing something? :?

JSanders 02-04-2008 10:57 PM

well, look at Options > About. What is on the top line?

thephatman 02-04-2008 11:15 PM

yeah, It says 8300 when I go there, that's the first place I looked. It just threw me off because it already has the GPS on it...

JSanders 02-04-2008 11:31 PM

lol, no, it does it doesn't already have GPS on it.

The previous user could have had a bluetooth puck GPS device attached to the 8300, or even loaded that TeleNav software and never activated it. But the 8300 doesn't have GPS built-in. Having the software is not having GPS.

thephatman 02-04-2008 11:39 PM

OK, thanks. I was pretty sure that was the case. I bought it new, so I'm guessing the TeleNav software just came on the phone. I'm not using it as of now, so I wasn't sure. Thanks again.
