How many of you are still using the 8100? and why?

I love my 8100, just refurbished with latest Fw, new trackball, and very light carbon look finish on the top:razz:
I found this BB better than new ones for reading text in the web. The low resolution give me large fonts without zooming, it is the only BB supporting trackball colouring applications it is small and its pouch is the only BB ones that cover the full device.:bb:

Me..
Actually I drop by accident my iPhone in a pool and there's no guarantee so I took back my 8100 while the new iphone 4g is been released. but for some reason after two weeks of using my 8100 I think I will keep it !! Honestly I like a little more better that the iPhone.
The reason... the size and weight :)

me too.

8900 accidentily consumed too much Guiness one night and bit the dust.

Pulled the 8100 out of the drawer, cleaned the trackwheel and VOILA!

The smaller screen doesn't bother me one iota either.

Looking @ the upcoming 9100 HARD now.

I switch between the 8100 and my new 8520 from time to time, especially if I'm traveling. The 8100 seems to have a much better battery life and is small enough that I can keep it in my pocket comfortably.

Because it still works.

Form factor, and it seems to be bulletproof! I am anxiously awaiting the 3G Pearl for AT&T!

Yeah I still use it. Only because my mom's in charge of the phone bill though, and won't let anyone upgrade their phone's until she knows what she wants to do with our plans. Weather she wants to switch companies or not and calculating prices and stuff. Since I got this phone before September 09 I don't have to pay for a data plan, if I get a new one though there'd be an extra $30 a month on the bill. Understandable. I just wish she'd hurry up and make a decision though because this phone's finally starting to fall apart. The keyboard is super glitchy, the cover on the back won't stay on unless I tape it, the inside's got major water damage, ect. :(

Had mine almost 4 years, now. My wife got her red 8100 at the same time as my black one, but she moved to the iPhone last year.

My trackball has lasted me all these years, although I have had to remove it, disassemble it, clean it, reassemble it at least twice a year since I keep it in my pocket except when I'm at home or when at my desk at the office. I finally had to switch out my trackball for my wife's trackball (since she doesn't use it anymore). Mine is worn down smooth to almost a polish. It just can't seem to grip the 4 toothed rods that turn the magnetic wheels in the trackball assembly anymore. Her trackball still has that fine frosty texture to it (although neither of our trackballs are opaqe white anymore - now they are a nasty brown color from age, but at least the color LEDs shine through when they come on).

I also had to use her back battery cover because mine lost it's little rib that holds it closed. So now, I have the black Blackberry with the red back cover.

I'm just waiting for AT&T to finally get the 9100 Pearl 3G.

I love my 8120. With my long nails i can't use touch phones and the BBP is just perfect!

It took me a LOOONG time to give up my 8100, went through 4. I finally upgraded when the 9700 came out, but I still have all my pearls, IMO nothing beats how fast the suretype keyboard is, the PERFECT compromise between querty and a 'normal' keyboard.

The size also holds a special place in my heart, I couldn't believe people going for the iPhone when it came out, that thing was (and still is really) HUGE. The pearl was really feature rich for its size/time. I almost waited for the 9100.

And lastly, know sometimes it would get stuck, but I miss the feel of the trackball...

I lost my Nokia E65 smartphone and found my Blackberry 8100 from the oblivion box. I like the weight, keyboard and simplicity.
(Besides the cost of cellphones in Mexico are high comparing international wadges).

Interesting, I was actually surprised by the responses. I expected that many of you would prefer a newer device with all of the bells and whistles.
