3rd unit...battery saga....at wits end!!

hi guys,

need our help again....

just to sum up my saga:

-changed back to blackberry after a short stint with the tmobile mda (buggy and annoying....should have stayed with bb!)

-unit starts dropping charge quickly, down to radio off from fully charged in 8-10 hours with light usage.

-exchange at tmobile for new unit

-new unit starts doing the same after about a week....this time i research on this forum and apply all battery saving tips i can find....not using bluetooth, backlight low, no push services....

-no change....exchange the whole thing again!

-all well for a little while, about a week, then same thing happens AGAIN!!!

-i havent changed any settings and i'm a light maybe moderate user....the battery should last for ages.....i've had several other bbs before but never this prob! my husband has the same (8700g) with the same setting, same provider and usage....he has no probs....

-tmobile will not exchange again but say they have to send it off this time.....presumably i will get a refurb back....not happy!

now....is it likely that i have had three faulty units in a row....or am I doing something wrong??
is this a known issue?

any ideas?

i'm at my wits end....bought a car charger as i cant afford for the unit to go off....i'm a homebirth midwife on call and calls CAN'T be missed!!!

thanks

You said after about a week, same thing... How long did the battery last the "first week"?

Are you always using the same battery? Are you getting a new battery with each unit? What about a new charger with each unit? All factors you should look at. Try charging thru usb on your pc and see if that helps.

hi, thanks everyone!

the first week the battery was usally down to about 80-75% after a full days usage.....then i charged it overnight as i can't afford for it to go too low......

and yes....every time i exchanged i got everything brandnew.....charger, battery, unit!

chargeing with car charger or usb on mac doesnt make a difference....charge still drops exceptionally fast!!

have to say today has been a good battery day.....usage exactly the same as any other day but battery still at 80% now....have the occasional day like this....odd!!

Are you using a case/holster that has the magnet that will put the unit to "sleep"?

debs 07-21-2006 01:26 PM

yep,

have been using piel frama flip style case but got paranoid that it might be influencing the battery issue. have been using the case that came with the unit but battery issue still the same.

both have sleeper magnets!

how many minutes are you using in a day? How many texts, and how many emails?

do you have any chat programs like google talk running? or things like google local?

my battery started draining like mad when my google talk had me signed in all the time. turned it off and have been fine since

hi,

maybe 20 minutes talktime, 10 emails, a few pins, 5 texts....

no third party programs....except bb messenger......oh and a magmic game....problem apparent before i got either of those though!

ah well.....
