Sony Ericsson P990i BlackBerry Connect Guide For Dummies
This guide is intended provide some direction for installing BlackBerry software (push-email) to your P990i handset. The guide utilizes one service provider (T-Mobile) to illustrate the installation procedures. For the first time, the BlackBerry Connect software on the Sony Ericsson handset allows both BES and BIS to function concurrently without interruption while running internet related software, such as, the web browser. This software is limited to intranet browsing for corporate backdoor websites or links. Please provide feedback and suggestions deemed appropriate. Bigfeat Hi,
Trying to access your BB connect files for the P990i, I'm going thru the pocess but can't get the files (all 3 of them). The system won't accept my PDF password for the PDF file or the other password for the 2 other files, and finally gets to a message:"HTTP server is not alive". can you help? Thanks |

Check your browser settings. It appears to be running fine as I do see download activities. |
Finally managed to get the files, no idea what was the problem.
Thanks a lot, I'll be trying to install soon and get back with my feedback. |

blackberry BIS connection and p990i via vodafone
hi Big feat,
I have read with interest your guide for numpties, can you help, I have had a blackberry 7100v for the past 2 yaers and everything ok via vodafone mobileemail, now i want to use p990i and have downloaded everything, however PIN and IMEI numbers will not register and vodafone technicals have now put this as a back office help, I checked and my software on the phone is not the same as the one quoted... does this make a difference with the BIS version Many thanks Pot Noodler |
Vodafone (UK) no longer support Blackberry Connect for new devices, and also block PINs on the mobileemail website. So this will be your problem.

I believe there's a way you can still work around this if you're an existing BB account holder. Inform Voda that you are swapping the PIN/IMEI IDs on your account. This happens on a daily basis for a myriad of reasons like phone upgrades and so forth and Voda will acknowledge that this is a reasonable request with special circumstances.
Make sure you hit "Register" on your handset and have RIM verify that they have received the registration request from your handset. They will ask you to verify your old PIN registration. Thereafter, RIM will the swap the PINs on their end and the BB Intermail Mail interface will actually prompt you with a message noting that the PINs are being swapped. The case that Artesea has made is partially true. There may be a general mandate to slow down the influx of BB Connect account holders. However, there are exceptions that these carriers make on a case by case basis. In your case, it appears that hey have escalated it, therefore, my suggestions should help you out. |
Making P990i working with Vodafone UK
Has anyone successfully obtained a NEW BB PIN from Vodafone UK? I'm not able to get anywhere with their data support team.
Best regards, Erik |
Vodafone UK issued P990i
Just realised my P990i has phone s/w version R5A006 and Organiser version R3A04. The figures are all lower than that shown in the Dummies Guide. I've tried to update but discovered mine is already up to date. Anyone knows whether if I select a country other than UK would help?
Best regards, Erik |
