Puzzled about themes

I've been using my BB (Curve) for a fewmonths and find an awful ot of puzzling things. There seems not to be any real explanation about so much.

To start. Themes.
1.) The built in theme has a "Today " screen which I find really useful. But none of the many free themes I've tried seem to offer this and none of the paid ones mention it. Is there a reason for this?
2.) Each time I install a theme it removes the folders I've created to organise my apps and data and sticks icons where it feels they should go (e.g. I put reference links in a folder called "reference").
When I remove that theme everything goes back to how I wanted it. Is there a reason why themes can't leave the existing folder structure alone? :-(

1, All themes are different. Some like the Today version, others do not. Developers put in what they want to put in and what their users might like.

2. Can't help with that. Have not had the experience.

The older devices will rearange the icons according to some (as yet to me) unknown setting, but your device will remember the icon order you have set in each theme.

Today themes do not sell well, as a theme dev I do not make what doesn't sell, however, I am always willing to create custom themes for a nomimal fee.

Thanks. While the answer doesn't make me any the wiser, it does at least give me explanations that start to make a kind of sense.
I guess the lack of interest in Today themes probably says something about the relationship between theme users and the way they use the actual device. It makes sense in the context of the descriptions of themes I've read.
If I've got it right, the people who spend a lot of time worrying about having the right cool themes are probably not the ones who just see the device as a working tool. In my case a different theme would be fun, but having my schedule in front of me is a much higher priority.

And now I can go on and seek answers for the other things that puzzle me.
