Google Maps 1.6 on 8800

I just downloaded the latest version of Google Maps (1.6) and I cannot get it to work.

When it is loading, it freezes at step 4 for along time (I can see it is trying to download data), and then gives me this error message:

Network Failure
Try Again Later. If it doesn't work, try installing a new version of this application.

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no success. -- I wish I could go back to my old version (1.54 or 1.58)...

Any clue?

Thanks

Downloade and installed fine on my 8100. It is a little slow but it seems that happens many times after loading a new version.

Yeah I know I like yahoo maps but it dosent pick up satellites as easily as google or bb maps. I dont have a problem with how fast google maps loads the maps just how fast it updates my location.

Hi there, I recently downloaded Google Maps 1.5.4 and I was wondering if uping to version 1.6 is worth it? Are there really any big differences? How but the ppl who have 1.6, is it worth replacing 1.5.4? Thanks!

plchan 08-10-2007 06:34 PM

i installed on my 8700g (TMO) and I like the new version. It has a new UI. Additionally, it seems a bit faster when loading the address / location.

I uninstalled google maps today I think .54 version. Any way I can't reinstall google maps. When I get to the link that says download google maps for you blackberry 8703 I click it and it says HTTP Error 404 Not Found. I have been getting this all day. Any idea what's going on?

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I do not know if its the timing with their server. I have it working and did it by overwriting 1.54. I was going to suggest to try again and also make sure to completely remove a prior google maps, so you have a clean install. Clean your cache. Reset again.
I may be just an issue with their server reaching all of the carriers

On the 8300 they seems to have REMOVED GPS support... so I would advise you not to upgrade if you have the Curve.

Dumb question, but how do I upgrade the version? I tried updating Google Services with Maps checked, but it says Google Services is already at version 1.3. Is there a Gmaps specific update link?

EDIT: Never mind, found it.

Correct. Bluetooth GPS has been restored to the Google Maps app on the Curve.
