Verizon 8330 doesn't want to activate

Hi all,
This is a brand new Verizon 8330 blackberry. We want to use it with our BES 4.1.4. We have 19 other att 8820's activated through it. This verizon 8330 has been attempting activation for a good 30 mins and still is sitting at "Activating *insert email address here*"

Just wondering if you guys had any ideas?

Is this device provisioned for BES access?

qc_metal 08-20-2008 10:30 AM

Did the BES agent pick up the activation email from the user's inbox?

Also, I've seen where removing the battery and re-inserting and re-activating seems to work...

@jsconyers and by provisioned for BES use you mean...? Is that something you have to set up through the carrier.

@qc_metal we have already done a battery pull and that did not work.

Thanks for your quick responses.

Yes, there are 2 BlackBerry plans. The BIS (consumer) plan and the BES (enterprise) plan. Without the BES BlackBerry plan, you will not be able to activate the device on the BES. You can verify this through you carrier.

Yes, you need to contact your carrier and verify that you have an Enterprise BlackBerry Data Plan.
A Prosumer (personal) BlackBerry Data Plan will not work.

99% percent of the time its a carrier issue...incorrect provisioning.

I just had a problem with a brand new VZW 8330 Curve a couple days ago. Spent 45 mins. on the phone with support. Their ultimate solution was to return the device to the retail store and get a new one. We could not get "1XEV" to display for the signal. All I was getting was "1x."

Is this close to your symptoms? It produces that same results. Unable to activate because the device could not access a data services signal.

So from what I know, this 8330 has the $30 blackberry data plan which is the "Blackberrry Nationwide Email" Plan. There is the $45 "Blackberry Solution" Plan. Is the $45 one the one that adds support for BES?

The 8330 is showing the 1XEV symbol so I know he is connecting properly
