key pad skipping

Recently my and a friend's 9100 have developed a key pad skip. Odd theirs developed the same thing within weeks. When you press the space bar you get multiple spaces. One tap results in as many as 3. I have read where some say it is an os issue. it is a pad issue under the keys and it is a key pad issue. No one idea seemed more than a hunch. I am not on os6. I don't want to reload an older os if i don't have to as i am worried that i will mess up my bb. Os6 is not out for my carrier yet (rogers). Anyone here have this issue and resolve it?

I have had that problem as well on both OS5 and OS6. Less often in OS6 but it still happens.

That is what happened to me. I upgraded but it still happens. I do not want the hassle of replacing things so I will live with it.

I have it on mine, 6 months old, started about 1 or 2 months ago (os5) . . . sprayed the phone down with some contact cleaner . . . that helped for a few weeks, but worse than ever now . . . :(

Resetting to factory default normally fixes the problem for a few weeks. An incredible pain I know. Hopefully I'll be upgrading soon and will only keep the Pearl as a back up.

I have been living with this issue for the last couple months. And it is just unbearable. I cannot type a single email or text without going back to correct the capitalization and punctuation. I keep coming back to this website searching and hoping there is a fix. Tried the battery pulls etc and had no luck.

Took my phone to ATT and they have no solution and my phone is out of warranty. Even with insurance it would cost me $150 to get a replacement. Better to just sign a new 2 yr plan and get a different phone. Was going to send RIM an email but cant find an email address in the mess that is the BB site. More focused on selling me some support services instead of standing behind their defective products.

Gotta say after years of BB's, I will probably defect. The browser still is way behind the iPhone and if the keypad doesn't work, I really don't see the point. Very Frustrating!!

I've since moved away from Blackberry so I don't have to face that problem any more. I do miss the BB an awful lot though. As soon as the new handsets come out with the new OS, I hope to be moving back to them.

There's something about the Blackberry that I really like, from the design of the handheld and the way the OS deals with e-mails/texts etc. to the way the sound quality sounds just so great.

I hope you find a fix for your problem and if you do, please share.
