Email reconciliation

Hi. I just got my first BB! I set it up to check my work email, but can't get it to sync the way I want to. I'm using BIS and our domain is hosted through Yahoo Small Business. I use Outlook in the office and want the ability to delete messages on both my computer and phone in one step.

I understand from the searching I've done that Yahoo's use of POP prevents me from doing this. Is there a workaround? I don't think we'll be getting an email server anytime soon, so BES isn't an option. If we were to switch to another hosting company that supported IMAP or other protocol could I get the two to sync? Or could I set up a Google Mail account as an intermediary?

To do what you want, you need BES. IMAP might work, it depends on what arrangements the ISP has with RIM and how IMAP is implemented.

Keep in mind, once email hits Outlook, all bets are off as the BB interacts with mail on the server, not the desktop client.

Thanks for the reply. If I went with a hosted BES provider and had the Email Reconcilation set to 'Mailbox and HandHeld' and Wireless Reconcile turned on, would it then delete message from both my Outlook and phone? Or does your second point about the mail server interaction still apply?

If you delete the mail from both handheld and mailbox it will delete from both blackberry and mail server.

If it doesn't then their is an problem.

Once it hits Outlook or the email client however, all bets are off. Just depends on how the ISP handles it and how RIM handles it.

You would need to ask a BES Admin or the company providing the service about that, but I think you would get the wireless reconcile.
