How to stop getting Read Receipts on the phone
I use a BB9700, with corporate Outlook exchange/BB server. I have my outlook set to request a read receit on all email that I send, but I have set a filter on the outlook to automatically send it to a folder and mark it as read.
However, on my BB, I keep getting all teh read receipts, and it is really clogging the screen on my phone, to the point where it is gettign very hard to just read my email. Is there a way to either NOT receive the read receipts on the phone (via a filter?) or with a setting to make it go to a folder? I have tried to use a filter on teh BB Desktop software, but what happens is that I complete stop receiving any email on the phone, not just the read receipts. Thanks for your help! |
I really have no suggestions for the problem, but isn't requesting a read receipt for every email you send a little bit of overkill?

I setup a filter inside the BIS. With T-Mobile this can be found within each email account under the Manage Email Accounts feature. |

Sorry ... Ignored my earlier response. I just realized you're on an Exchange. |

Not in my job sometimes. CYA just occurs naturally! Anyway, I am thinking of turning that feature off though. These read receipts are really killing me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
You might try a 3rd Party App to delete read receipts, such as:
BerryMail Bellshare - BerryMail BlackBerry Filters & Mail Rule Manager http://www.getempower.com/blackberry...le-manager.php I haven't tried either of them. They both purport to be able to mark emails as read and/or delete emails, stop the LED from flashing, etc. based on rules, filters, string matching, and so on. |
I'll have to re-visit for exact parameters used. I have had a filter on my BES attached BB for years and never get a receipt.

you should be able to set a filter from the device; messages folder, options, filters, and setup a filter based on the subject of the read receipts to not be delivered to your device, then leave all others to be delivered

All you need is set up filters to NOT forward the receipts to the device. Works flawlessly for me. You can either do it on the Blackberry itself (Mailbox > Options > Email Filters) or in Desktop Manager (under Redirector settings). I have rules for
READ: NOT READ: RECALL SUCCESS: RECALL FAILURE: This takes care of all the unnecessary stuff for me. Bonus idea: I set messages sent directly to me (not just DList) to forward with Level 1 notification and configured notifications only for these messages (so I can pay attention only to these messages). |
