OS: 8350i v4.6.1.142 / 4.6.1.83 (English + Multilanguage)
Software For BlackBerry® 8350i smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.142 (Multilanguage) Package Version: 4.6.1.142 Consisting of: Applications: 4.6.1.83 Software Platform: 3.0.0.41 File name: OrionAMEA_PBr4.6.1_rel142_PL3.0.0.41_A4.6.1.83_Nex tel.exe File size: 83.16MB Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld. Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld. Download here:https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B9D5EE16489088 1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. 2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." 3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file. The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device. THANK YOU for posting this. It's also this OS update that fixes the dreaded MMS issue of cannot receive until the phone is restarted. I'm trying to get this out, because our call centers are being FLOODED with calls right now regarding the issue.
|
Isn't this the OS that came with the 8350i?
|
Thank you again for sharing, Adam.

Mine came with v4.6.1.83, not this one. Giving it a shot now, as I'm having issues with service books being rejected.

Before I go and do this, has anyone successfully upgraded their 8350i from 4.6.1.83 to 4.6.1.142? Will I need to reload all my third party apps after the upgrade?
|
Everything should stay as is, you might have to re-register some of them though.

This Download Is The Exact Same Thats On My Device Now:
Applications: 4.6.1.83 Software Platform: 3.0.0.41 Can Anyone Tell Me If It's Actually Different In Some Way? Thank You In Advance, Matt |

Am I missing something here? I've done enough OS upgrades on various 'berries that I thought I knew what to look for... |
I'm following the instructions in the first post, but I get to the "Completing the Application Loader Wizard" screen and it says nothing about upgrading the OS. Here's what it says (I didn't change any of the options on the preceding page) -- is this correct?

Oh, and one other thing: when I go to "Options > About", it lists the OS as "4.6.1.83". However, if I press ALT-SHIFT-H from the home page to bring up the 'Help Me' screen, it lists the OS as "4.6.1.83 (142)". Does this mean I already have the 4.6.1.142 OS? No where on the "Options > About" screen does it reference the "142" version, but it is listed on the ALT-SHIFT-H screen. Help me :-)

Well the Published Date of this software is 12/23/2008 so I am skeptical
|
I'm almost certain that this is the factory OS people
when i go to my about it's version 4.6.1.83 platform 3.0.0.41. and when i go to wireless upgrade nothing available. |
note the package version IS NOT the OS. The OS is the number for the applications
