Yeay for new members

After years of debate and xxx8220;man I should have got thatxxx8221; discussions with myself I finally decided to join the blackberry network with the new, well relatively new, 8800. I will have to say that this is a very impressive device and has one xxx8220;my best devicexxx8221; award over my first phone the Nokia 3650.
None the less I have read the BBforums for a couple of weeks now and the people here are excellent. I am looking forward to joining the community, learning something new or helping somebody out.

Thanks everybody for making this a great community.
;-)

Though this is suppose to be the intro thing I do have a question.
PIN for the profilexxx8230;good thing or bad thing?
I know it requires a registered blackberry to send to the pin but has anybody experienced horrible spam because they gave out their pin?

I have not heard of spam on the PIN, but it is entirely possible, if not quite difficult.

Its not that I don’t trust anybody, just that I don’t like creating new e-mail and IM account due to spam and I don’t want my device suffering from the same ailment, epically because I don’t know if I can change the phones pin. Maybe a better question would have been…Has anybody ever suffered from span via the PIN?

You cannot change a BB's PIN #. It is hard-coded into the handset. You change BBs, you change PINs as well.

Kinda hard to get spammed with the PIN since it's BB to BB only..... You might get a ton of requests to be added as a buddy though if you post it....

Ill list it...because im cool like that :P

Nice to know for future FYI. I didn’t think that there was a way, in fact I was more than sure that the pin would have been encoded into the device.
