Is it legal to hang criminals in international waters? Point to ponder.

monkeypaw 06-03-2010 03:42 AM

Such a messed up story. If the investigation hadn't been botched in Aruba, he'd have been in jail rather than killing someone else.

I hope he gets the full brunt of Peruvian justice.

mriff 06-03-2010 10:11 AM

Right. I'm guessing Peruvian justice is just what this kid needs.

+1 - string him up if he did this again!

How do they execute people in Peru? Or does the criminal pray that they would execute him?

Enquiring minds want to know.

He's confessed...

I saw a report that said because he's confessed he'd likely get around 7 to 10 years. But the conditions are so bad in Peruvian prisons, that one guy said he'll probably never get out alive. He said if someone came up with $100, one of the prisoners will take care of him, not in the good sense. Since that Peruvian girl's father is kinda famous, I would think a prisoner may just take it upon themself for free.

Here's a National Geographic bit about one prison there, with videos:

As the Stomach Turns

You see where he said his confession was forced? I also read that his mother said he was mentally ill. Wonder if he has syphilis? Would explain his behavior.

What are the odds he will walk or end up in a prison in Holland? One of the fellows in my office who is from Holland said that he will end up in a Dutch prison as all he has to do is ask to be moved from Peru. The guy was dead serious.

mriff 06-22-2010 12:37 AM

I can't see the Peruvian government letting him leave. Not with the prominence of the girl's family.

I hope they don't let him leave. If everything I've read is accurate, a Dutch prison would be a resort compared to a Peruvian prison. I think some serious consequences are just what the doctor ordered in this case; he doesn't seem to have faced any before.

JSanders 06-22-2010 07:53 AM

He's a true psychopath.

Now Mama is in Peru helping him change his story and today's he bragging about the number of marriage proposals he's gotten while in jail in Peru. I guess he just needs the ONE marriage proposal from cellmate Flavio.

In addition, he has new charges in the US on Extortion to face.

kathrynhr 06-28-2010 07:41 AM

Hooray! His confession was upheld:

My wife's now deceased father worked as a captain with the Lima Police. Lets just say they have a very high confession rate

TBOLTRAM 07-01-2010 11:58 AM

Latest is the jerk is trying to get million dollars for TV show. They should accept the offer, find out where the murdered woman is and then use it the information in court to hang the guy. Money split with the two families.

Bonus question. What body part should they hang the guy by?

JSanders 07-01-2010 05:35 PM

He was indicted today by a Federal grand jury in Birmingham, AL on wire fraud and extortion. Whether or not there will every be a trial on this...

akosnitzky 07-03-2010 08:04 AM

Agreed. I am not so sure he will ever make it to a US Federal Court House

mriff 07-03-2010 11:29 AM

Rotting in a Peruvian jail is about all he's good for.
