verizon wifi question

I Can't find a solid answer so maybe you guys can help me.

I'm thinking about Upgrading to the 9650 tour2 when it comes out for Verizon.
I will be using the full data package with it.

the questions I have regarding verizon wifi are:

Can I make calls?
Can I send text messages?
Can I send Pix messages?
Can I use the BB PIN messenger?
Can I send/receive emails?

I work in a basement and have zero reception. I would like to keep in touch with with outside world while I sit in my bunker from 9 - 5.

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

I believe that is a no to MMS. You would need UMA to use MMS, verizon doesn't support it

Okay, thanks for the replies. perhaps there would be something new in the horizon for verizon...

If you can surf, then you can make phone calls use google-calling from your phone.

Not true.
Google Voice is not VoIP. It won't work without a carrier wireless signal.
You can't use WiFi for this.

You could use the Verizon Wireless Network Extender. One time fee and no monthly access.

Wireless network extender

Looked intot he extender.

Besides the outrageous cost I would still have 2 problems.

1) cant get an antena to the outside for the GPS locator
2) I would still not be able to send pic messages since it only boosts the call signals and not the EV which I beleive is used for the multimedia messeges..

Swtiching to T-mibile is out of the question where I live in northern NJ.(USA)

no rush for me.. let's see what Verizon has to offer in the near future. besides the TOUR2 is not out yet...

You can send texts and pics via the cell service, using the network extender.

VZ Range Extender

The antenna does not need to be outside. Near a window or outside wall works sometimes/usually. I have one and it made a big difference. What sold me was if I wasn't satisfied, I had 30 days to return it. Very easy to set up.
BUT... you need a broadband connection to connect it to.

Also they offered to break down the payment for the unit into my regular monthly charge. I didn't do that but that's what they said when I balked at the price.

Well you might be in luck in that Skype may be possible soon on Verizon phones:

Quote:

The two companies have created an exclusive, easy-to-use Skype mobile offering for 3G smartphones. Verizon Wireless 3G smartphone users with data plans can use Skype mobile to:

* make and receive unlimited Skype-to-Skype voice calls to any Skype user around the globe on America’s most reliable wireless network;
* call international phone numbers at competitive Skype Out calling rates;
* send and receive instant messages to other Skype users; and
* remain always connected with the ability to see friends’ online presence.
Says way at the bottom it would start in March.
