RIM Virtual Serial Port v2, Ports listed in the Device Manager, Modem cannot see
I am trying to install a modem using the Blackberry RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 modem.
Under devices I have two COM Ports 3/4 Associated with Blackberry RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 modem. No driver issues, when I try to update it says drivers are up to date. When I go to install a modem Standard 33,600 Modem on the lowest numbered COM Port (3), neither of these ports (3 or 4) are listed under "on which ports do you want to install it?" Why are the ports listed in the Device Manager, but my modem cannot see them when I try to install it. Have installed and reinstalled modem drivers and Blackberry Link several times. My phone is a Blackberry Classic. I should have never replaced my Bold. Any Insight is appreciated. |

modems don't like to share com ports, you need to separate them
Are you trying to install a modem along with link? |

Yes, I am trying to install the modem along with the Link Software.
My understanding is that BB is supposed to install two consecutive RIM virtual COM ports and you associate the modem with the lowest COM Port number. I am wondering if this IT Policy see image is interfering with this. |

IT policy can disable the use of a modem via desktop or Link software. It may be easier to check with your IT group to see if they set the restriction or if it may be removed if set.
