OS: 9780 6.0.0.905/6.0.0.294 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Boldxxx8482; 9780 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.905 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.905
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 6.0.0.294
  • Software Platform: 6.5.0.54
  • File name: 9780M_PBr6.0.0_rel905_PL6.5.0.54_A6.0.0.294_Vodafo ne_UK.exe
  • File size: 163.81MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...05D7C424EBAE5F

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9780:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

I'm very new to this forum but I've had a few BBs and now have a 9700. From the install instructions it gives them for "ANY carriers 9700." Is this a typo or can the 9780 OS6 be downloaded to the 9700 and work ok? Sorry if this is a stupid question with an obvious answer to it. Thanks

No, you have a 9700, not a 9780.

It is not a typo...
9700 = 9700
9780 = 9780
9700 xxx8800; 9780

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.905/6.0.0.294 (Multilanguage)

So this will work on the 9700?

When you say, "Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:" what exactly do you mean? I realize a 9700=9700 and a 9780=9780 so I'm assuming you're saying it will work on a 9700 of ANY carrier.

You know there is a OS6 leaked release for the 9700 right? I'm using it and it works fine. Go to the beta you than me section and you'll see it there.

He has a point --

"Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:"

Perhaps it should be clarified to read:

"Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9780:"

I got it, but some newer users may misunderstand -- just my .02

Stevew, thanks, yes I copy/pasted the instructions have changed that to read "any carrier's 9780". I've fixed the mistake from the initial post. My apologies to all.

This OS ONLY works on the 9780.

This OS is NOT for the 9700. Please read this thread from the top to see that.

Installed on my new 9780 today, I didn't spend a whole lot of time with the OE software but the install went smooth and everything seems to be working perfect! What were the improvements supposed to be with this version???
