Need to unlock your Bold 2? No problem. Horizon Wireless can do it.

Some of you already know, but unlocking the new Bold 9700 is no problem via Horizon Wireless.

HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center ß

I just had mine done and had the code in no time!

jsconyers 11-05-2009 01:20 PM

Is there anything Horizon Wireless can't do?

I asked them to stop being so awesome once. They CAN'T do that..

DHermit 11-18-2009 08:18 PM

Can anyone explain how unlocking a phone works and why there are so many companies that do it? Do these companies have to pay to get these codes and thats why there is a market for it or what? I remember unlocking phones when I was just starting college and it was some simple stuff you just looked up online and entered.

Socarumba 11-19-2009 11:44 AM

Can Horizon unlock a Digicel BB 8520

Raptor464 11-19-2009 01:27 PM

I'll tell you something Horizon Wireless can't do. Make a T-mobile 9700 work on At&t 3G, or vice versa. ;)

PDM 11-24-2009 05:28 PM

@Tom : how much did you end up paying for the service?

Just can't see anything for TMob UK...

Two-Timer 12-14-2009 06:40 AM

I gave my at&t BlackBerry to my brother who has T-Mobile. at&t's customer service didn't have a problem helping me unlock the BlackBerry,

omkhar 12-16-2009 09:47 AM

$45 CAD for a Bell 9700, yet $13 for a Rogers unlcck?? grrr...

PS I have no doubt they're a great provider, but their site is need a bit of a makeover.

alphasports 12-30-2009 06:46 PM

Yeah their website is astonishingly bad...but I hear good things about their service

the 9700 has a more involved unlock process than other BB's

yes the codes are generally purchased by unlock providers

BB cant be simply hooked up to a computer, each BB has its own uniques unlock code

The 9700 on BELL does. I'm told on Rogers it only requires one unlock code.

We should get a group of folks together and all pitch in for an order of bulk unlock codes

audit 01-11-2010 04:24 PM

They hooked me up nice and fast as they always have in the past. Nothing but the best service from the fine folks there.

shaf77 01-20-2010 02:55 PM

For the poster that mentioned unlocking a BELL 9700... can it really be unlocked? I had a Bell 8830 (just got my 9700 today) and I was never able to get it unlocked.

It requires 2 codes but it can be unlocked.

Jarrod623 01-21-2010 08:04 PM

If it can be unlocked Horizon can do it!

Pliny 03-03-2010 05:36 PM

Seems Overpriced

I don't want to start a war but I paid 2.59USD to have a BB Bold 9700 unlocked by an eBay seller. I sent them the model number and IMEI number and got the instructions and unlock code in about 20 minutes.

It was an ATT BB 9700 and it worked with Tmobile but of course not with Tmobile's 3G network.

chargedbird 03-25-2010 12:30 PM

What is the main reason to unlock the phone?? the only pro I see is for international traveling...

Comments or Suggestions?

samu-ry 04-06-2010 09:31 AM

Horizon is a Great site with fast, quick service. Recommended definitely!

Better price if you're going to sell it - and, of course, freedom.

undemi 04-20-2010 10:53 AM

t-mobile does that for free, as always; if you upgrade your phone using your old SIM card, it is already unlocked, no waiting for 3 months

Some carriers do this for free if you're in good standing with them. However, what if I wanted to unlock my Verizon BlackBerry Storm to use on T-Mobile, would T-Mobile unlock that device for free?

yanks731 04-20-2010 12:32 PM

i think it has to be unlocked by the first carrier, then it could be used anywhere.

chargedbird 04-20-2010 01:41 PM

How can I tell if my BB has been ulocked? I had the G1 and put my old T-MO sim into my BB 9700. Still have T-MO as my provider.

jsconyers 04-20-2010 01:46 PM

So if you unlock a 9700 it is not unlocked? Confused... insight?

I clicked on the link for Horizen and it says the account has been suspended, is there any other way to unlock my phone?

Oh snap! You're absolutely right. You could try eBay like a few posters previously mentioned, or go to Unlock Blackberry & Any Cell Phones Remotely by Code | CellUnlock.net and order one. I just did and got my (working) unlock code in less than 30 minutes.

Make sure you use promo code crackb50 to get the 50% discount, though!

Hello forum! I just called t mobile, they said I will receive email instructions how to unlock my phone and if any problems they will walk me through it so I don't permanently lock my bb. I am traveling to China, I want to us my bb and all it's apps. I have glanced at china mobile website...does anyone know of any prepaid sims for Guangzhou, China or Hong Kong, China that will allow me to make voice calls to the US and use Internet on my bb? And can I use bbm over there? Or should I just buy a prepaid phone there and does the prepaid phone come with data packages? Thanks in advance if you can help!

Cheers

Beachbratt 10-14-2010 05:46 PM

Another question, once my phone is unlocked, will I still use my bb as normal while in the states on my current carrier? This tech stuff is so confusing when you're new to it :-/

MidnightDraven 10-14-2010 05:48 PM

yes you're blackberry will function the same in the US.
I don't believe China offer Pre-paid blackberry services.
You would need to call t-mobile about an international data plan, how much, what can be used with it etc.

Beachbratt 10-14-2010 11:16 PM

Thanks, I called t mobile before i made my first post. They charge like $15.00 per like 1 megabyte! $2.99 per minute incoming, outgoing, or voicemail. Incoming texts are free, outgoing like $0.65. Tried to remember all what was said. So my other resolve is to purchase a China sim card and put in my bb. I did find this site:

World Traveling PrePaid Sim Card. USE In Over 185 Countries. FREE Incoming at 90 Countries + FREE USD $4 call credit! and PrePaid Sim Cards - MyWorldPhone.com

Just wondering if that will suffice

badalshah87 10-30-2010 11:24 AM

I have unlocked my phone through myunlockedphone.com, its cheap, fast and secure.

they will do this for $4.99 only.

I recommended them

they unlock BB from USA, UK, CANADA and from all over the world.

Best service and customer support

Re: Need to unlock your Bold 2? No problem. Horizon Wireless can do it.

My Review:

Horizon Wireless online is MAD sketch. Avoid or deal with someone locally.
Codes are NOT instant.
The numbers listed on both the paypal receipt under merchant are disconnected / not in service.

514-661-2800 - disconnected / not able to receive calls

the ones on the site (and that I've found on google - terrible)
1-888-777-1255 - Goes to some random company???

The costs right now are super cheap but they are discounted from 95-100 when a normal code should only cost 35-45 at most.

Not even sure why this thread is stickied.

I'll update when/if I get my code, for now I'm watching my VISA bills very carefully.
