Afghanistan War Documents Leak

My opinion? He should be tried for treason, convicted, thrown in jail and left to rot. Or worse. The other troubling aspect of this story is how easily available the information was to a private who had no clearance.

this bugged me right off the bat

Meanwhile, anti-war activists have rallied around the jailed soldier. A group called "Courage to Resist," which supports troops who refuse to take part in the war, has begun soliciting funds for Manning's defense online.
If you refuse to take part in the war, or any war, don't join in the first ****ing place.

This guy should be tried and hung for treason. also i have no idea who sets up security for the defence department or our armed services but someone at that level should be tried as well.

They can hang those convicted of war crimes the same time they hang Manning. It sort of works both ways.

I am a bit surprised how easily the guy was able to get and transmit the information. My first thought was that he "was doing his job and following orders." To get one or two documents would be the work of a person working alone. This was a major amount of information and unless the military is completely screwed up the guy would not have been able to do this without approval from above.

If the military is completely screwed up then there should be more being hung the same time as Manning. Think about it.

I think DC/DC is behind it.

Yes, it is treason. Plain and simple.

I think a Predator drone with a Hellfire missile payload needs to be relocated.

Not to blow off what Manning did, but I'm far less pissed about him than I am about the fact that that the Pentagon is going ape sh!t on an epic level about the leak of secret documents by one guy, but no one in either the DoD or Washington has any substantive comment about the BILLIONS of dollars that are missing from the Iraq Reconstruction fund:

BBC News - US 'fails to account' for Iraq reconstruction billions

There's a big difference to me between a rogue guy or two (or ten) stealing, and widespread systemic misappropriation.

ezrunner 08-02-2010 03:16 PM

Both are problems! But this private has endangered many lives as has the wikileaks site! I think the owner of the site should be tracked down and charged especially if any American Soldiers or allies in afghanistan are hurtor killed due to the leak!

I don't believe this private worked alone...time will tell

As for the misappropriation of funds this needs to be handled just as seriously
