How To: Desktop Manager - Switch Device Wizard
 

*I'm not sure if this thread may exist in another forum, I have looked and found nothing on this. I am constantly having customer (I work for AT&T) ask how to move their info/contacts/emails from their old device to the one they are buying. I also know I have seen others ask the same on here before, so I figure I would help out and make this for thoose that need help. If you think that I am wasting my time /slap me or vote this sucker for /sticky!

First start by downloading the newest version of RIM Desktop Manager:
Currently v4.6 is the newest and can be found HERE

After loading the newest DM, plug in the OLD device.

• Click on “Switch Device Wizard.”
• Click on the correct icon for your switch. (If you are going from BB to BB make sure you click 'Switching Blackberries')
• Click “Next.”
• Select USB: Your Pin.
• Click “Next” and then enter your password if required.
• Make sure you Check “User Data and Settings” and “Include Messages” leaving “Third Party Applications" unchecked. (Only check this if you are sure all your 3rd party apps will work on your new device. If your new device is using a different OS this may cuase issues with your apps. Its better to just redownload them again.)
• Click “Next.”
• When the Desktop Manager has completed the back-up from your old device, plugin the NEW device.
• Click "Next."
• After the Desktop Manager finishes uploading your info to the new phone
• Click "Finish".

YOU ARE DONE!
