T-Mobile 9700 w/ OS 6.0.0.48 problem, need help!

So, I just FINALLY got around to upgrading my T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700 to T-Mobile's official version of OS 6.0... 6.0.0.48, to be precise.

First thing I noticed was what a memory hog it is, had to delete some potentially useful apps that, thankfully, I haven't used so far, but might have wanted to some day.

But now, I've encountered a much bigger problem... my custom MP3 ringtones that I've had on my BlackBerry for YEARS, that have worked with my BB 8700, 8900, and 9700, through several major OS revisions, suddenly AREN'T SUPPORTED! When I try to set one as the ringtone, it tells me it's an invalid ringtone! And the basic included ringtones are CRAP! :x

I mean, seriously, I have a bunch of heavy metal and alt rock ringtones, with specific ringtones for specific callers, and none of them will work now. Can anyone please tell me what the frak has been changed on 6.0 to cause this, and how I fix it to get my ringtones working again? Any help here would be hot.

Use your BlackBerry browser and go to mobile.blackberry.com and see if there is still a link to download the OS5 ringtones. But recognize it is going to take up even more of your now precious memory.

Unfortunately, they didn't come from BlackBerry.Com. These were free ringtones from a 3rd party site, that I've been using for years. I don't want to roll back to OS 5.slow, but I might have to. What changed that ringtones that worked for years aren't supported now? I'm assuming RIM changed the supported file formats, but what exact change did they make? :?

Ok. I missed that. Your custom ringtones won't work? Standard mp3's? I don't get it.

I dumped OS6 six after only a few hours. See what others say. Seems to me there should not be a problem, but I don't know what to suggest.

Yeah, I wasn't pleased with 6.0, either. I HATE 5.0.0.714, which is what came pre-installed on my 9700. It seemingly looks for ANY excuse to display the hourglass/spinning clock face and lock-up! And not just for a couple seconds here or there, but for 5-10 minutes OR MORE at a time! (n)

It also does NOT like the threaded text messaging that RIM came up with, which they've forced upon us, which we CAN'T turn off! It REGULARLY locks-up my text messaging in the middle of a conversation, refusing to open the new message. It will stay locked up like that for quite a long time before I can open the text message. :-((n)

So, I have no idea if 6.0 fixed those issues or not. It's such a memory hog that I removed unnecessary apps, leaving about 11 MB of free space available, and within just a few minutes, something ate up that 11 MB and it was showing 0 MB free! :-o

Combine that with my custom ringtones not working, and I quickly rolled back to 5.0.0.714... and found myself with 65 MB of free space after the reinstall!!! 8-)(y)

But I still have the same problem with text messages, so I've now rolled back even FURTHER, to Version 5.0.0.586. If that one's still bad, I can even do one further rollback. I'm hoping I don't have to. :?
