Need to change BB-ID password
 

The PB I now use belonged to my wife. She upgraded to a 64gb and I took her 32. But her bbid is still on it and keeps requesting me to sign in every 3 - 5 minutes. She cannot remember her pw or her hint.

I know a wipe will cure it, but I am now tethered to this pb as my pc is dead with a hd crash. But I don't want to wipe, just change the bbid pw to something I know.

How do I just change the bbid pw only, and if at the same time, change the registered email id? Who do I call?

You can close your BBID account if you have access to the original e-mail used to register. If you are taking over the device, then you should set up your own BBID and use that.

Thanks, but nothing worked.
I cannot find an "options" icon on this pb.
I tried every pw my wife knows, I tried both links you sent, but both get me back to the hint before it will proceed.
I do have a bbid, and it works on this pb, but her id signin keeps coming up.
I think I need to talk to a real human at RIM. Anyone have the 1800?

There is no 1-800 number to contact BlackBerry. If you call them, you will have to pay.

I just spent 45 minutes with bb support, and there is NO WAY to reset a pw without a hint being answered.
BB phone support is 1877-644-8405
Every other isp & bbm can send a revised pw to your email, but not blackberry.
Security gone overboard.

Maybe BlackBerry is doing security right while everyone else went "underboard". Security remains one of BlaclBerry's prime advantages. There has never been a mystery about this simple fact. BlackBerry puts security ahead of convenience. Why do you think BlackBerrys are trusted on DoD secure networks while iPhones and Android phones are not?

I fixed it(y)
On a hunch, I opened my wifes pb settings to bbid.:idea:
I could then log in with her usual pw, which never worked on my pb, even though registered to her.
I then changed her pw to her usual other one.
On my pb I used that new pw and lo..... It worked.
So i then changed the hint to something neither of us would forget, and she would kill me if I forgot.

No more bbid popups.

This could not work unless you had 2 pb's with the same registration.
But it would NOT let me change my pb to my bbid, as my bbid is "already used". That requires a wipe, and it is not gonna happen.

I want to make sure I understand this as I'm thinking about getting a bigger PlayBook and letting hubby have mine. We CAN change the BBID on the PlayBook? Not just the password? It looked like the instructions linked above were only to change the password. This one KB31045-How to change or update a BlackBerry ID username on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet
seems to cover changing the ID. I have the same ID on my Q10 and PlayBook, and i think he would want to use the same BBID on his Torch and my old PlayBook, but the instructions kind of make it sound like you can't do that.
Did you have to make a new BBID or could you use the same one you were using on your Q10?

He can use the same BBID on his phone and PlayBook. No need to set up another one. I use the same one for both my Z and PB. I haven't had any issues at all.

My 32gb PB is registered to my wifes BBID, and her 64gb PB to her BBID as well.

I bought a 32gb PB and set it up for her. Then a few weeks later I bought a 64gb and was able to register it to her BBID although BB says you cannot. She needed the extra RAM for videos, I didn't, so we swapped. When I tried to change the 32gb registration to me, BB says I can't... Period. So I kept it on her BBID.

Some time after that my 32PB started asking for a login p/w on wife's BBID. No P/W we knew worked. The hint made no sense either. The request to login popped up every few minutes and became such an annoyance I stopped using the PB.

Recently I needed to use the 32PB so began this thread.

Since the resolution, I have not had the login request pop up.
