New Gmail Plugin
 

I just downloaded the Enhanced Gmail Plugin after reinitializing my 5 gmail accounts.

It seems pretty cool but I can only use the advanced features if I go into the mailbox icon for each gmail account. For example, I can't use the unified mailbox to use the advanced features.

It seems this is by design:
"Note: Google Mail enhanced features are only available within the Enhanced Google Mail plug-in and are not available when viewing Google Mail messages in the Messages application on the BlackBerry smartphone.

This makes it almost useless for me as I don't want to have to click one of five email folders everytime I want to read a message.

Still some great new functionality though if you don't mind clicking into the mailbox. The threaded view and remote search is SWEET!

Does it work with google apps accounts?

Yes it does. I have 1 gmail and the other 4 are hosted gmail.

Seems it only works on specific BB mailbox icons for each account, which makes it essentially useless for a large number of BB users who depend on the unified mailbox. Oh well.

This along with other shortcomings I read about makes me not want it anymore :( glad to see RIM is at least trying.

Does this work on Verizon?

I tried to search just to test and I had to reboot the bb.

I deleted it. Not yet for prime time.

I'm not sure why Google tries so hard to push its forced paradigm of threading so hard. They should be working on at least providing date ordered mailboxes... How simple does it get?

Someone please enlighten me.

I can't see all my labels, anyone else have that problem?

So far I like it. I really like the Remote Search function since I don't keep a lot of mail on my device, but like to be able to go find a message still in my Google account.

I'm not thrilled with having to use the Gmail inbox icon to see threaded messages, but will try it for a while and see if I get used to it. It's also nice to delete a threaded message (from the gmail inbox icon) and have it delete all the messages in the thread, rather then having to do it one at a time from the main Messages icon.

They are making inroads, that's for sure. Oh, and yes, it works for Verizon - and all carriers. It's a Gmail app, not a carrier app.

I also just noticed that if I send a message from my BB (with the Gmail account) I do not see the sent message in my Gmail inbox icon. I do see the sent message in the main Messages icon, thought. Weird.

So far this solves a huge problem that I always had with Gmail -- being able to delete and archive mail.

The threaded message view is also very helpful for viewing email lists where there are lots of replies to one message. Actually this is a huge plus.

It's too bad that they could not apply this plug-in to the unified message box.

Luckily I only have one Gmail account (it's a Gmail Apps for Domain so that definitely works).

This actually finally removes any need for me to consider BES (I'm also using the free Google Sync for my calendar and contacts).

Anyone found a shortcut key for the "Archive" command?

Ya noticed this too. Not liking this part.

Very unimpressed with this plug-in. I was hoping for 2-way sync. Can it really be that hard to implement 2-way sync?

I like the search ability, and you can use the search ability to pull emails back to your BB messages folders which I think is awesome..

If I can see all my labels (I have a lot of labels) I really be good to go.. And the Update Labels doesn't work.. I've removed re-added/reinstalled this plug in..

Can't wait to see them expand on it.

Do you see them under your Messages Inbox icon or your Inbox icon?
