I heared people only have the blackberry enabler and they can get free web browsing with the opera, and some other web browsing.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
There's no such thing as free web browsing without a blackberry data plan. Please stop yelling at us. |

Don't be a cheapskate. Pony up the cash and get a BlackBerry plan. |
some people think free world is the right attitude towards .. everything but its not worth u pay for it and get the right choice ...

There was a thread going on about the blackberry enabler and being able to add the 5.99 web plan or whatever along with it but T-Mo got smart and stopped letting people rip them off and won't allow you to have both the enabler and web plan on at the same time. I don't think they even allow you to have the web plan with the BB period because there is no point to it technically. All the enabler does is give you MMS usage basically.
So yeah..man up and pay one of the cheapest data plans sitting at 20 bucks a month... |
indeed, i pay 60 bucks for 25 mbs..... you guys have it easy in the states

That being said. If you are asking this question, you obviously can't afford it. So why get a BlackBerry? You should have just bought some $60 phone and it would be cheaper for you. |

Ask a stupid question... |
give this guy a break... just answer the dang question with a simple "no". Dont call him a cheapskate, dont tell him to go buy a cheap $60 phone, and please dont make some wise *** remark about the public library. You cant tell him what he can afford and cant afford...

I got my pearl for $50 bucks, I have the $20 data plan and every app on my phone is free. nothing wrong with looking for a cheaper option. And hus08... dude whats with the red and green and the caps... just ask the question with regular font. maybe you will have better luck. |

Getting free software is great. Finding a deal on a BlackBerry is great. As long as it's done legally. |
Absolutely, this forum is here to help, not to knock other who ask for an answer to something they do not know. Even worse is answering a question incorrectly.................. So sorry guys, but yes this is possible, but it does come with a hitch. The hitch is that you can do this, if you have access to a blackberry server of some type, whether it's the express or full. You will need to have the Blackberry Desktop manager installed for use with a server as well. Using the usb cable or paired up via Bluetooth, you can use the "Wireless Bypass" feature for data. The router will use port 4101 to connect back to the server, so you may need to modify your firewall settings to allow this. When this is set up it makes you feel like you are running on a broadband connection. An additional bonus is that you can also send and receive email while you are on the phone. If needed I can further document, but it is fairly easy to put together. Cheers All.

Baltee, would you mind making a Step by Step Procedure of some kind, that would be great. I do have a Data Plan... I am just wondering if i can bypass it as well.
|
If you can't afford 20 bucks a month you shouldn't own a blackberry.
Don't go to the bar for a night once a month and you will be able to afford a blackberry. |
hus08

Notice it's the new users that all say "Oh, yeah you can do it"? Experienced BlackBerry users apparently realize that you have to pay for the service. And T-Mo for $20 a month is cheaper than my cable internet at home!
