PlayBook to use Android?
What do you think if the PlayBook is really running on Android?

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
It's not.

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
It will run Android apps... It is not running Android.

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
Correct, big difference, as per the latest statement from RIM it will run the Android apps but not the platform in whole.

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
QNX has an amazing ability to run anything. You could possibly run Android on top of QNX with very little performance degredation. But as stated, there is a posibility of letting Android apps run on Playbook, not the Android OS.

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
Truth is most of the apps are not that spectacular.

Re: PlayBook to use Android?
Would be great.
Playbook will benefit from RIM's strengths in Enterprise and security, but how to appeal to consumers? A playbook that has QNX, RIM's traditional software, and Android app compatibility will be great. Also, Android is pretty good, but most of the Android device manufacturers are pretty good, e.g. Samsung has sold tons of Android devices, but their pieces of the software and their support are beyond terrible. So RIM could likely create better tablets then the folks currently making Android tablets and steal a lot of sales from them. Consumers want an alternative to Apple, but they also want lots of apps. |
Re: PlayBook to use Android?
One thing i have wondered is weather the playbook will be able to run legacy apps ...
