BlackBerry devices do not traditionally support .rar files, and I have no issues playing mp3s on any BlackBerry. Are you sure they are mp3 format? As for .rar files, you will have to extract the files on a computer before moving them to your device.

The .rar files display the file is corrupted message when itry to extract them on my pc, .exe files do the same as well, I tried using a different memory card but that didn't work.

If the .rar file is corrupt when you try to open it from a computer, why would you think the file would open with a BlackBerry? Like dc/dc posts, the file probably wasn't downloaded correctly.

I know .rar files won't open on my BB. But I've tried countless times to download different files e.g(.pdf, .rar, .exe, etc) & I keep getting the file is corrupt message when I copy them & try to open them on my pc.

Yes. South African carriers throttle and block downloads.

You can download while connected to WiFi or use an alternate method to download your files. PC with a transfer or something.

Re: blackberry 9720 corrupting downloaded files

Guys I don't believe that the problem I'm experiencing is related to network carriers in any way. Let me explain: I've come to realise that files that I download to memory card are the once which don't work, but those I download to the device do work. For example, I can download a file to my device & it works superbly so, then I immediately download the same file to my memory card only to find that it doesn't work. Any suggestions? I've tried using different memory cards but the results are the same.

It may not be completely the network's fault, but I promise you it is part of it.

Re: blackberry 9720 corrupting downloaded files

I doubt that, I think it's related to the way BB handles files on the memory card cause even files that I copy from my pc to the card don't work, but they work when copied to the device memory. But like I said, I tried different memory cards. When I check the size of the files it's 0kbs.

Are you encrypting your media card? Encryption may be causing an issue.

Encrypting? How could I be doing that, cause even photos that I take via the phone & save them on the memory card don't display, I just see an icon

Re: blackberry 9720 corrupting downloaded files

It seems like the files get corrupted when I'm using the BB browser to download, I've tried using Opera mini & the files work fine after being downloaded but files larger than 20MB have difficulty downloading, so I went on & tried UC browser & it works perfectly. I don't get any error messages from files that I downloaded with it.
