Incoming calls - long time to load?

Hi

I don't know if this is a common problem? I just received my BB 8707g and i just realized that it takes a long time for the phone to tell me that i have incoming call.

For example, i tried using my house phone to call my own BB and it takes about 10-15 rings before my BB tells me on the display that i have incoming call. My BB doesn't ring and all the while displaying an hour glass icon. I think after the phone nearly reaches its ringing limit, my BB rings.

Why is it like this? What can i do?

you need to contact your carrier for your cell service. either their networks are down or there is a problem with your system software on your device. call tech support. 8-)

I recently had the same problem on my BB 8300 although it hadn't done it before.

It started out taking a sec to display who's calling then it became a ridiculous amount of time.

Battery out for 15 secs then back in did the trick.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue with the provider. It's most likely a memory issue...First try remove and re-inserting battery. Then check available space on the phone, you may have run out of storage which is making the device run extremely slow.

I have the Peal 8100 and have problems with it sometimes too. I keep a close eye on my memory so I really don't think it's that. I can be listening to a large audio file, but still have free memory over 23 and the call will go to voice mail before I can answer it. I get the blasted hour glass and just can't answer the call. It's very frustrating.

I would love to have a solution to this problem

Same here, also with a Tmo 8100 and appx 32 mem free. Problem occurs even with no apps running, just sitting idle on home screen. Also would love to know why... Frustrating that every other bit of this device works great...except for incoming phone calls... kind of a big deal.

Well i tried switching it off & on and it works.

Have you tried taking of the battery as suggested? I hope it doesn't happen again.

Normally the battery has to be pulled to free up memory or sometimes to solve strange issues. Neither GotGagets or myself have a low memory issue. In my case, I use SoftRest at least daily and pull the battery itself every once in a while. The problem can happen shorty after a battery pull or a SoftReset, so I would think it must be something else.

I sure hope someone has a suggestion. I get really tired of that hour glass making it impossible to answer the phone. :-(

Yeah, same for me. Experienced it shortly after a battery pull. Its not like its an every phone call type of thing (thank goodness). The only thing I am thinking is maybe I had an incoming message at the same time as the call and it bogged the processsor down? Im going to see if I can catch it next time it happens. Possibly that could have been it... Wasnt paying close enough attention before on the times it actually happened.

Of course it hasnt happened since I mentioned this the other day... Im not going to complain though :)
