Petition VERIZON to Enable FULL GPS (JOIN THE FIGHT NOW)

I think we Verizon 8703e and 7130E users are pretty pissed off to hear that Sprint is allowing their customers to use the feature but Verizon is not. I think we can get a pretty substantial petition to present to Verizon...

whadya say guys?

I HAVE SINCE SWITCHED TO CINGULAR. But I promise to come through on my promise that once we have enough signatures, I will deliver this to Verizon...

I'm sure they will offer it as soon as they figure out how to overcharge for it :)

Yeah, if that's the case, they would have had it enabled already. They do not need any time or any help figuring out how to overcharge for something...They've got that down to an art form...

rpvitale 10-03-2006 12:37 PM

Agreed. How do we fight this?

Stinsonddog 10-03-2006 12:38 PM

Is it possible that a sprint service book would enable it on VZ?

Hmmm..interesting question...I would love to give it a shot, but I'm not sure if it would work, I think Verizons system would have to allow it...

If they fully enabled GPS does that mean programs like TeleNav would work on Verizon Wireless? I want a GPS directions from my Blackberry SO bad!

YES, that will work..Verizon just needs to enable it...

essay182 10-03-2006 03:19 PM

Alright I'm signing that petition then!!! What about if someone hacked full GPS support?

jgb@etree 10-03-2006 03:22 PM

I'll add this to the laundry list of complaints that I typically send out to my VZW Corp. Acct. Rep every time I receive a new product. So far, this list is small..just two items. Lack of GPS Navi capability, and the inability to silence keypresses when dialing the phone (even with all sound disabled).

You should have seen the list I sent in when I returned the Q 3 days after it launched.... It had at least 20 serious complaints/issues!

Edit: If we're lucky, someone will find some VZW promotional stuff indicating the GPS functionality..... If that's the case, maybe there will be another class action suit like there was with the v710 when they advertised full Bluetooth compatibility and then decided to cripple OBEX.

essay182 10-03-2006 03:34 PM

That problem with the touch tones when dialing is definitely annoying too.
