MissingLight: FREE App that turns status LED purple for a missed call

From the description:

MissingLight is a tiny app that turns on the BlackBerry's status LED if you miss a call. A BlackBerry uses the status LED for many notifications: incoming call, voice mail, SMS, email etc. Unfortunately, the ability to indicate a missed call is curiously missing from my particular model (BlackBerry Curve 8320 from T-Mobile). MissingLight is my attempt to fill in this missing functionality for the status LED, hence its name.

To use, just install the app. This application might request access to your phone log when you first install it: don't worry, it only uses your phone log to detect missed calls. If you miss a call, MissingLight will make your status LED blink purple. Because there is only one such LED, different signals can conflict. The missed call light can temporarily turn off the coverage indicator if you enabled it (blinking green). The missed call light can in turn be overridden by the voice mail indicator (blinking red).

I am making this program temporarily available for download for a few days. It's free for you to use. I only ask that you let me know if it works on your particular BlackBerry model.

I think it's working on my 8350i, but there is no application icon anywhere on my BlackBerry. Should there be an application icon somewhere? There should be.

ohad_129 03-02-2009 09:04 AM

that the point i convert it to alx/cod couse i cant do it ota
please help me
thx

JSanders 03-02-2009 09:25 AM

You are correct, you cannot use ALX/COD file for OTA installs. So don't.

ohad_129 03-02-2009 09:31 AM

i know that i cant i write it down that it was cod/alx version i transform it

JSanders 03-02-2009 09:33 AM

Then I have no idea what you are trying to do here. The OTA install file link simply works.

If you could, please state what you are attempting to do. I know there is a language barrier here, perhaps I simply don't understand what you need.

I am just wondering: Why purple as opposed to red?

JSanders 03-02-2009 10:08 AM

I would 'guess' because red is already used for email and other message notifications, and purple will distinguish from that.

rachamphetamine 03-02-2009 10:08 AM

Probably because that's already used for SMS, MMS, emails, etc., so this way you can know what the alert is for by looking at the LED.

Works on my 8900 Curve with .133 OS.

Do you plan on expanding the app and making it customizable for SMS, email, BBM, ect. missed actions?

piper975 03-02-2009 10:53 AM

8350i works, much brighter

Works on my 8350i ... only thing I notice is that it is extremely bright. I would think 1/3 to 1/2 brighter than red.

Works on the Bold running .237 --

I also feel that the light it too bright - is there any way to tone it down?
also there is no icon or app - would love a way to turn on/off or change some settings.

Great work

Works on the Bold!
