Upgrading to Atrix

I'm saying peace out to RIM and jumping on the Android ship. RIM is too far behind and resting on their laurels IMO and the Torch 2 will be outdated the day it's available. There is a plethora of dual core ultra fast phones available or on the horizon. It's no wonder why my BBM contacts list is shrinking. Does anyone have experience with Android 2.2 or Atrix's? What do you like compared to your BB? What do you miss? I have a feeling I'll miss a lot about my 9700. There are many thoughtful features built in to these phones that others seem to lack, but I'm hoping a dual-core 1ghz processor, hi-res screen, Flash 10.1 and loads of memory will help me forget about the little things BB's do.

The Atrix is a great phone, awesome pricing available for it now on some carriers. The main thing keeping me with Blackberry right now is the superior messaging and email capabilities. With that said, flash support, higher resolution screens, better and faster processors and an open platform OS make droid pretty tempting. The fact that any of the upcoming device release are still behind the times has me considering other options, but I'll probably settle for the 9900 when RIM finally decides to release it. Enjoy your new Atrix, OP.

Well I got it a few days ago and I am very impressed. The pictures and he videos are outstanding,as is the web browsing. Typing takes some getting used to. As you said bbs have superior Messaging but that's not to say the droids are lacking much. A unified message box would be nice as would the ability to use custom ringers for message types and contacts. Overall the capabilities of this phone are mind blowing. It's wild how far technology has progressed since I got my 9700. In the end, im sorry yet glad to say I left RIM.

My buddy is constantly complaining about his Atrix's battery life. Common problem with Android devices, due in large part to powering those gorgeous monster screens. In the end, it's all about finding the right device for your personal needs.

Battery life isn't OS5 good but comparable to OS6 definitely. I went in to work last night with 100% played pandora all night plus texts emails and a few calls and left with just over 40% in an 8 hr shift. I can't really complain about that. The atrix comes with a pretty large battery and in my experience so far the task killer is your friend.

Eh, what makes you think this is an upgrade? There will be a new Android device out before the paint is dry on yours.

Re: Upgrading to Atrix

I did upgrade from Curve to ATRIX 4G (free on AT&T w/2yr renewal)
Used it for 5 days and took it back. I could NOT master the virtual keyboard. Almost did in landscape mode (larger keys) and swipe mode but even with the little line making it to the correct keys, it gave me wrong letters. I couldn't put in my password twice without a difference to join the forum to ask how to master the keyboard!
I went across town and got the BB TORCH at Walmart. Not free: $0.97 and the same 2yr contract renewal.
I wanted the ANDROID OS and the apps but the slide-out keyboard on TORCH reminds me that I did the right thing taking ATRIX back. I have a few nice apps on my BB now. WiFi (wasn't on Curve) is nice. I'm a happy camper still in the BB camp.

Are you using BES? If not, I'm sorry to tell you, the BB is not superior in any way when it comes to email.
