Carrier OS (network) compatibility

I have searched without success. Does anyone recall a post (some time ago) that from what I recall compared carriers and the compatibility of their issues OS. It had something to do with the similarity of different carriers networks and suggested that when installing an unofficial OS that you select from a carrier whose network was similar to your own. Not sure if I described my question coherently enough.

I don't think I quite follow what you're asking.. however, you can install any OS on your device so long as the model numbers match. You may have to delete vendor.xml, but the instructions to update your OS can be found stickied in any OS posts at the top of the device forums. You just can't load CDMA software on a GSM device, and vice versa.

All of the handheld code is written by RIM, and then tested and released by the carriers on their own schedules.

I know all that but thanks anyway. The post compared the networks of different carriers. For example, my device is Rogers branded. The post suggested installing an OS from Hutchison as opposed to AVEA as the network was more compatible with Rogers, or something to that effect. I could have swore the post, again which was some time ago, was on BBF somewhere.

I don't recall ever seeing anything remotely like that.
