Bridging unavailable on Z10 ?

Forgive my total ignorance on the Z10, I don't have one, and probably won't until they appear in Factory Direct refurbished :)

I thought the bridging was a function of the playbook to the phone (works nice on my 9700) and that all that would be required on the phone would be the ability to use Bluetooth to connect.

Could you more knowledgeable Berry users enlighten me as to why it doesn't work on the Z10

The bridge also requires a software component on the phone side. If you look on your 9700 you should find a application called BlackBerry Bridge. I'm not sure how it is implemented on BB10 but it is supposed to be available.

At present the Bridge functions are limited with the BB10 phone. No email, no contacts or calendar. This is supposed to be added but I don't know the timeline. Probably when the PlayBook gets BB10 OS.

I thought that Blackberry 10 OS and the OS for the Playbook were both QNX based. Why all the trouble in getting them to work together? Very strange. Are we not being told the straight goods about OS 10 and the Playbook OS?

Re: Bridging unavailable on Z10 ?

It doesn't really have to do with the OS per se. Yes both BB10 and TabletOS 2 run over top of QNX. The way contacts, calendar and email are handled in each are significantly different. That doesn't mean they couldn't write a Bridge client for BB10. After all TabletOS 2 and BlackBerry OS <= 7 are completely different. But with the release of BB10, TabletOS is end of life since all PlayBooks will be able to upgrade to BB10 fairly soon. A bridge client to link a Z10 to a current PlayBook would have a useful life of 3 months or so.
