8520 Better read the specs before you buy
Well, as I might have expected, I have dicsovered another major weakness in the 8520. I can no longer use my TelNav GPS program. This program was the the most outstanding travel tool I had ever found and completly replaced my Tom Tom Nav system in my car. Hence the 8520 is incompatable with this advance navagation tool. I missed this detail while studing the phone specs. The ATT Maps program works but does not "Active track" your location and has to be used in you hand to see where you are going. Secondly it provides no active instructions. In other words I need to reinstall my Tom Tom, which I sold. Good grief. Does anybody know if BB has a 3rd party program that might enable the 8520 as a GPS reciever.

GPS capability requires HARDWARE.
The 8520 does not have. Never was advertised as having it. BlackBerry - Curve 8500 Mobile Phone - New BlackBerry Curve 8500 Phone You could get a Bluetooth puck such as the Freedom Keychain GPS receiver. |
Can't enable what isn't there. The 8530 has GPS, and as M-M said above, the 8520 does not.

Why didn't you just add this into your other thread?
I guess I should have expected it since you didn't read up on this device before you bought it, but seriously. |
DC/DC; reading, writing and arithmetic ain't needed for smart smart phone users. Oh well gotta go back and listen to some more Spike Jones.

Oh, we're quite certain that you were being entirely honest and candid about what you did and did not know.

Dude, you bought a BlackBerry without GPS. Didn't you wonder why it was a lower-priced model?
