Unlock 9780 for AT&T
 

Good afternoon,

I was wondering if I buy an unlocked bb 9780 and use it on AT&T, would I have 3G or just Edge?

If the 9780 was designed for AT&T you will be fine. If it has the electronics for the T-Mobile network you will only get Edge. I am in the reverse position. I have a 9800 but use T-Mobile. I only get Edge :-(

If it is a T-mobile or WIND device, you would only have EDGE since they use different 3G frequencies.

What if he buys a retail 9780 off ebay guys? Would he be able to use it on the AT&T network?

What does that have to do with anything? It still has to be an AT&T device or an unlocked one with the same frequencies, i.e. Rogers.

How re-assuring!

Excuse me if I don't live in the USA to know the different stuff about the bands and so, we never have to worry about these issues here in DUbai since all carriers use the same band and are compatible with all phones (not CDMA offcourse) so it was quiete normal for me to ask this question.

I am an advanced BB user, but you are just showing your class in the way you respond to members who come here for help.
