Red X on sent email

So my girlfriend has a blackberry Curve 8300 i believe. She can receive emails but when so go's to send one it gives here a red X. Her email is setup right as far as we know and shes had the thing for over a year now and it's never done this. I've heard that re sending service books works but she said she did that and it did nothing. Also I told her to re validate her email in email setup but it still doesn't work. Help! Unfortunately I'm not near her to check it out myself.

Welcome to the forums.

Have her open a message with the Red X and scroll up to Status. What is listed next to it?

haste4 02-25-2010 10:08 AM

She already deleted them. But I think it might have said something about format. Maybe I'll have to have her try to send one again.

jsconyers 02-25-2010 10:11 AM

Have her do that. Is it happening on every email she sends? Only on a certain contact? From a certain account? From all accounts?

Does it happening when composing a new email? Replying to an email? both?

haste4 02-25-2010 10:20 AM

I have the phone but I don't see status in the side panel. It happens whenever she's replying and sending a new one. I just tried doing a new one and it went right to the red X

jsconyers 02-25-2010 10:22 AM

Open the message with the red X. There will be a status inside.

It shows for every message, normally it will show Sent (if the message did send).

haste4 02-25-2010 10:33 AM

When I open it there is no status what so ever. Just the name of recipient and the text message content

jsconyers 02-25-2010 10:34 AM

Ohh, so this is a text message, not an email. In your original post you said email. Which is it?

haste4 02-25-2010 10:51 AM

No its an email. I sent a new one now and there's no X just a clock sitting there for the last 15 minutes

jsconyers 02-25-2010 11:02 AM

Then there should be a status.

It should show:
Sent Using: (email address)
Folder: Sent Items?
Message Status: ???

What model device does she have, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330? Who is her carrier, AT&T, Verizon, etc?

haste4 02-25-2010 11:26 AM

It's an 8330 and she uses US Cellular. When I open the message heres how it looks:

To: So and So
Subject: djgd

djgd

Thats all I see.

jsconyers 02-25-2010 11:28 AM

Scroll up a little higher.

haste4 02-25-2010 11:57 AM

And now the phones phones battery is to low to try sending one again. Cripes! Well if I do find a status message what should I look for? I also heard on another forum somone say they deleted the service books and that fixed it. I'm not sure though. I afraid to romove anything.

jsconyers 02-25-2010 12:01 PM

Does she get a caplital 1XEV? Charge the battery and the status should be there. Open the message, scroll up as far as you can.

I just started getting the same thing on my BB Curve 8330. It happens to all outgoing emails. The Message Status says "Message included an invalid address"

jsconyers 03-04-2010 09:03 AM

Are all these emails going to the same contact?

Double check the addresses you're sending them to. Have you tried a battery pull?

OT: Lancaster is my old stomping grounds.

rleabhart 03-04-2010 10:11 AM

Snow is finally going away in Lancaster. Yep i tried the battery pull. All emails sent from the BB give me the red x. I've only been sending out to individuals that I've sent to before.

I just sent an email from another co-workers BB and he is getting the same red x. Could the problem be the BES?

jsconyers 03-04-2010 10:22 AM

I am in Harrisburg now, so I know what you mean about the snow! It could be BES related. Does this happen when composing an email or replying to an email?

rleabhart 03-04-2010 10:24 AM

Both. I'm going to reboot the BES server and see if that does anything.

jsconyers 03-04-2010 10:27 AM

I would check the BES logs and see if you notice anything unusual.
