Application Loader Error - BlackBerryFAQ

You must have your same handheld operating system loaded to your PC as is on your BlackBerry, when you attempt to load other applications. The handheld OS on your PC must match the handheld OS on your BlackBerry,

just a summary of whats in that link

I just got this Curve lastnight..I had a Pearl. I did a backup on the Pearl and a restore on the curve. It loaded all that..Now at work.....diff PC, I loaded the same DM and it wont do anything. Do I need to wait until I get home and use the same PC I did all the other stuff on?

No but you would need to download the O.S. onto that computer to install programs via the DM.

If you wanted it, you could find it here...BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites

I downloaded this from that site...."T-Mobile_BlackBerry_8320_v4.2.2.180.exe"....I ran the .exe...it did its thing...It asked to launch DM...it did....did nothing to my phone and still error when I load...I open DM now and it does not attempt to install the OS anymore when I do app loader...Not sure where to point DM to make it find the OS I installed again...:x

Open Desktop Manager and look in Help >About. Click ont he Device Software Tab and see what OS's it shows installed?

Also, what OS is installed on your BB? I thought 4.2.2.181 was the most current for TMobile US. If you installed 4.2.2.180 then nothing will happen.

What application are you trying to load to the BB?

There is nothing in my device software tab. My BB has 4.2.2.180....New phone as of yesterday. I am trying to add new themes, soft reset, weather and BBToday.

If there is nothing in the device software tab, then the OS didn't get installed properly. (Maybe OS .180 is the TMo release, sorry.) Is the BB unplugged when you are installing the OS?

John Clark 05-20-2008 01:53 PM

There is a later version, 4.2.2.184 stickied at the top of the 8300 forum for the 8320. 4.2.2.184 is much better than 4.2.2.180. I recommend installing that and upgrading. However, the 4.2.2.180 should show up in application loader and give you a list of checkboxes for installing or removing applications..

I am home now and DM shows the same OS that is on the BB. I get the same error when I go to load an app.

Gix1k 05-20-2008 06:48 PM

What else can be wrong....?

bm- 4.3.0.17
device software- 4.2.2.180 (plat-2.5.0.36)
BB- v4.2.2.180

I have this same issue. I've tried everything I can think of and am still without a solution.

Dawg 05-21-2008 05:47 AM

download the OS again and reload and see if that clears it up

Gix1k 05-21-2008 07:09 AM

Done that...POS does not work.!! I'm ready to slam this thing back on Tmobs floor for a refund!!!

Gix1k 05-21-2008 07:24 AM

I think the OS is not loading correctly to DM...I plug in the BB...open DM, click apploader....it shows the OS in the box....I am to hit next. I can see some progress bars, but it does not do anything and says click finish....I click that and it says the device was updated successfully, but never really ran. Whole process took 10sec.

Dawg 05-21-2008 07:41 AM

ok delete the OS and the DM from the computer and reinstall and see if that helps. Also what version of the DM are you using?

Gix1k 05-21-2008 08:33 AM

I will try this....I downloaded....4.3.0.17.....Should I use a diff version?

bret714 05-22-2008 07:57 PM

I am having the same issue. I have Verizon and I believe I have the latest software. It shows 4.3.0.15 I had the Pearl before and I just recently upgraded to the Curve. SO far I love it except for this same issue Gix1k has. I am getting the same exact error messge. Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks

Gix1k 05-23-2008 07:06 AM

I have given up...I've installed and uninstalled more times in the last week than I have within the year. I've concluded this thing is a POS! Simple as that.
